I had the 5x50 robusto version of the Reserve Maduro and this particular cigar has been resting in my humidor for over a year now. The scent of the wrapper was of an earthy nature. At the foot, I noticed the same earthy flavor with a sweet maduro nature to it. The wrapper was a smooth and very dark wrapper with no blemishes or other noticeable flaws. At the head, it was a bit hard upon giving it a light a squeeze. It gave a bit more as I gently pinched the half-way point of the cigar. I noticed a strong peppery presence as I touched my tongue to the newly cut head of the cigar and noticed a prominent grassy flavor on the draw.
Upon toasting the foot, I noticed during the first 1/3rd of the cigar a dominant burnt coffee and whiskey/mash flavor. It also contained a tinge of spice and a faint hint of ammonia. Towards the second third of it, this cigar mellowed out very nicely to a cedary straw flavor that also reminded me of roasted nuts. This is a medium bodied cigar that will leaves spice on the tip and middle sides of your tongue as you progress in smoking it. The scent of the smoke was of a campfire woodsy-smoky nature and was very pleasant.
The draw was free and the finish was of a heavy cedar nature. There were no wrapper or burn issues to speak, it burned very consistently throughout the whole experience and the wrapper stayed intact wonderfully.
