Pros: I did not die while smoking it
Cons: Pre smell, cigarette like smoke flavor

*****CAUTION***********

Don't read this review BEFORE you try this cigar!!!

Blind review. 6 7/8"x52 Torpedo

ATMOSPHERE: Smoked outside in the evening paired with fresh Alabama air.

PRE-SMOKE:
Scent: Honestly, it smelled like horse do do. It really did. WOW, that does not make you want to smoke it. No way. Nope. Do do - honestly.

Appearance: Light brown, tear where the band was.

Feel: Lightly packed cigar.

Pre-light draw: Mostly smoke taste. Nothing good on the palate.

SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: Very mild leather/earth.

Strength: Very mild. Took 1/4 of way to get any flavor at all, and then it was simply weak.

Feeling: Very light and airy.

Scent of smoke: Cigarette like, which by the way is really bad for a cigar.

Heat: Very little.

Draw & Burn: Good burn. Draw was pretty good.

Finish: Awesome, but thanks for asking.

OTHER:
Ash: Great ash color. Since it was loosely packed it kept flying away on me and getting all over the place. I hate when that happens, unless the cigar actually smells nice.

Duration: Smoked until about 1.5” remaining in roughly 2 hours. I simply could not take it anymore and put it down. It really was a shame to burn this cigar, it should have been burried in the bushes with the rest of the manure.

CONCLUSION: I hope someone else notices the pre-light smell of this tur-er-cigar. This cigar was not to my liking. Even after I got paste the horse crap smell it just did not give me anything I liked in the way of flavor.

FINAL RATING: 3.0 - Ouch, this was a bad one

Pros:
Cons:

This was a torpedo with so-so construction.
This was wrapped in a very light colored smooth wrapper. No oilyness, and not shiny. I could not really pick up much from the wrapper except for maybe some light spice. There were a vew large veins and it had a few soft spots, but overall the construction was not too bad. I cut the end about 1/2 inch up. It was a good cut and nice smooth. It seemed almost a meduim filler in this one from the tobacco which fell out upon cutting it. I drew from the unlit cigar and got a little spice and nothing more. This seemed to be a very mellow smoke.
I toasted and lit as I normally do and we were off to a good start. It lit nicely and burned at a good pace. This was definately a medium-mellow smoke. It did burn nicely and I did pick up a little strength change about half way through this one. It seemed to get a lil stronger in flavor and spice. I never really had any heat get to my fingers or lips. It had a very nice draw. There was a little buttery flavor on the finish and some spicy tobacco every once in a while. I think I would have liked this more if I was just starting to smoke cigars. It needed more flavor for my tastes. Overall I would give this one a 4.25 on the ICRS rating scale.

Pros: The first third is good
Cons: Poor taste, iffy construction.

+++ I want to start by saying, this seemed to be a cigar that would benefit from having newer smokers review it. I found the blend to be so mild it was hard to detect flavor.+++

This is what I would call a fixer up torpedo, depending on the price range of this cigar it could be great. The construction shows little care to detail. The wrapper had a section missing that was clearly a damaged leaf before the cigar was rolled. It had water spots and the cigar was full of soft spots. On lighting, it did have a very nice dry cocoa flavor with a very VERY ashy flavor...it did work though. The first third was actually very pleasant. Lots of smoke and good mild flavors. As I worked into the second third the flavors turned to a burnt cardboard flavor and then began to take on a very stale flavor. The final third was harsh and full of sharp, tart flavors. This cigar could be helped with a more complex blend....maybe some Nic tobaccos would help.

Overall, this is a cigar that "needs improvement" with better construction this could be a good inexpensive cigar. With a blend change, who knows!!! Also, it had amazing draw....very nice.

Pros: Good Draw
Cons: Bland but gets bitter.

This cigar was a Natural wrapped torpedo. The wrapper and foot had a pleasant sweet tobacco smell, I was looking forward to lighting it up. I tasted the wrapper and was surprised that there was not taste.

I cut the cap, it cut off cleanly and the cigar had a good draw.

First Third: Completely bland and not flavor.

Second Third: Still bland and the smoke is getting rather bitter.

Third Third: Bitter and bland, bland and bitter.

This goes to show that you cannot judge a cigar by its wrapper smell. I was looking forward to a pleasant smoke, but it turned out to be a bitter and bland one. I would not recommend this cigar to anyone.

Pros: Flavor, complexity
Cons:

107

Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: Woody, slightly earthy
Scent at Foot: Oak, tea
Wrapper: Lower half was silky, upper half spotty and veiny. Wrapper also had a 1/8 inch nick near the band area.
Feel: Solid with a slight springiness
Tongue: Bland tobacco
Flavor on Draw: Leather, toast

Smoke
Taste: Grassy, light nuttiness
Flavor Changes: Notes of wood, toast, and clover appear near midpoint
Strength: Mild
Scent of Smoke: Light floral note
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: None
Draw: Easy and smooth
Finish: Medium grassy finish
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Extinguished itself with 2 inches left

Judging by appearance alone, you could call this “A Tale of Two Cigars.” The lower half of the wrapper was silky and smooth while the upper half was spotty and veiny, with one rather large vein near the head. Looks can be deceiving however. The cigar started off a bit grassy but developed a slight nuttiness early on. As I smoked further, the flavors of toast, wood, and a pleasant clover overtone came through. This cigar, though mild, had a nice complexity that held my interest through. A relaxing and enjoyable smoke that I would compare to a Puros Indios. This could easily become a regular cigar for those times when I want something milder.

Final Rating: 7.6

Pros: great construction and burn
Cons: smokes like a cardboard

Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: hay, greenish or floral scent
Scent at Foot: almost no scents
Wrapper: natural color, discolored at multiple places, lare veins
Feel: feels like it is nicelly filled
Tongue: nothing
Flavor on Draw: hay, lite woody flavors

Smoke
Taste: very little if anything here, perhaps just a bit of hay
Flavor Changes: very similar profile all throughout
Strength: very mild
Scent of Smoke: cigarette like
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: N/A = good
Draw: perfect
Finish: no finish
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: This cigar had a great burn, great construction, with a beutifull whitre ash that held on for around 3 1/2 inches; BUT this was one of the worst tasting cigars I had in a while. It felt like I was smoking a cardboard or something.

Since we smoke cigars because we like how they taste this one did a very poor job so I give it 3 and that is because the construction was great

Pros: can't think of one
Cons: see review

Not too much to say about this one-very mild-much too mild for my taste. The prelight adventure:
Scent-some hay
Appearance-hole in wrapper about half way, a few prominent veins
Feel-inconsistant-spongy in some places and hard in others.

Uneven burn to start with no notable taste changes throughout.

I rated a four-just short of being a good cigar.

Pros: Fairly Mild. Decent Construction.
Cons: Not much flavor

Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: Fresh Hay
Scent at Foot: Similar to wrapper
Wrapper: Light caramel color, very small veins. Minor imperfections where band used to be
Feel: A little give from top to bottom... very consistent
Tongue: Pretty decent tingle
Flavor on Draw: A slight minty tingle

Smoke
Taste: Nice tingle on draw. Nothing outstanding.
Flavor Changes: None noted
Strength: Mild with a little bit of a tingle
Scent of Smoke: ? - smells like a cigar!
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: None
Draw: Easy but not loose
Finish:Slight spice/Tingle
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Burn started out fairly even but then with about 1/3 remaining it started to develop problems.

I was very surprised at the complete differences in ratings after I smoked this cigar. It is a fairly mild cigar that produced a tingle(common theme above) on the draw. For me it was a fairly enjoyable cigar but it didn't do much for me.

Final Rating: 6.2

Pros: N/A
Cons: N/A

Like stogie said he had some problems getting the bands off some of the smokes. I guess mine was one of the not so good off ones. Almost 1/2 the wraper was missing on one side of the smoke. I tried to light it up and see how it would fair..........not so well.

Pros: Solid Ash
Cons: Too Mild

A golden hued veiny wrapped torp.
Some soft spots.
The wrapper had a hay scent and a sweet tobac scent at the foot.
1st puffs were earthy & light bodied with grassy nutty notes.
And that's about it.....
The finish was short with slight woodiness.
Nice even burn with solid ash.
Reminded me of a Macanudo.

Pros: even burn, lots of different flavors
Cons: unpleasant flavors, some construction problems

Blind Tasting Panel Review #107
Torpedo

ATMOSPHERE: Smoked on a sunny Arizona morning paired with iced tea while catching up on my email.

PRE-SMOKE:
Scent: Not much at all from wrapper..some earth and grass. Very mild tobacco from the foot.

Appearance: Light brown (Connecticut shade?) wrapper. Very smooth. Very rough looking cap and odd shape for the head..almost like a pencil. Wrapper began to unravel when cut.

Feel: Inconsistent..some spots soft, some very hard.

Pre-light draw: Nothing on the tongue. A sour spicy taste (like lemon) on the draw.

SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: Sour flavor (like lemon rind) and some pepper through the nose. As it went along I detected burnt toast and then very mild wood (birch) and paper flavors.

Strength: Mild to medium.

Feeling: Good resistance to chewing.

Scent of smoke: Not a lot of smoke produced. Mostly a basic leather scent.

Heat: None .

Draw & Burn: Pretty even burn and perfect draw.

Finish: Slightly bitter and spicy..fairly short.

OTHER:
Ash: Salt and pepper ash that held very well..would be great for an ash-stand contest 

Duration: Smoked till about half way point since I was not enjoying the flavors very much.

CONCLUSION: This cigar had a lot of different flavors but unfortunately I did not enjoy them very much. These might improve with some ageing. It did have pretty good construction and even burn. I would not recommend this cigar.

FINAL RATING: 3.8/10

Cheers!

Pros: Good burn.
Cons: Not much flavor.

Cigar review: Cigar 107

ATMOSPHERE: In the garage on a rain-filled day.

PRE-SMOKE:
Scent: Light tea aromas permeate the foot.

Appearance: A large torpedo with an oddly-finished tip; wrapper is slightly mottled with a small amount of damage, possibly a construction issue since it seems so fragile. This is a fat cigar!

Feel: Wrapper is smooth to the touch.

Pre-light draw: Light and slightly grassy.

SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: A little bit of nutty flavors on the first few puffs. This cigar has lots of light tea flavor but not too complex. That is not such a bad thing as I’m enjoying relaxing with this smoke. I’m picking up some light coffee bean flavors about a third of the way into the stick.

Strength: Mild.

Feeling: Very relaxed while smoking this cigar. Just patiently taking in the flavors.

Scent of smoke: Slightly sweet and floral.

Heat: Very little to none.

Draw & Burn: Draw is easy and burn is even.

Finish: Smooth and floral.

OTHER:
Ash: Ash holds very well and falls flush with the foot.

Duration: 1.5 hours.

CONCLUSION: A mild cigar with little complexity. 6/10

Pros: n/a
Cons: burn problems and major draw issues

I had problems from the start... once lit it started canoeing very badly... the cigar was so hard I commented to my better half that it was as if filled with cement... it wasn't firm it was hard. That said.. I managed to get a couple of draws off of it but could not get any more out of it than that. It was thouroughly plugged therefore I could not give it a rating. I wanted to try it out to see if it was as bad as people had mentioned but I couldn't even smoke it to say anything about it. The scent of the smoke was peculiar. Unfortunatley it was to hard to get a good draw off of it too comment on the taste,...this one didn't pass the beginning grade to rate it.

Pros: Complex flavors
Cons: Very delicate wrapper

Scent of Wrapper: Light sweetness. Mainly tobacco scent. Very light.
Scent at Foot: Sweet tobacco scent
Wrapper: Light tan with a lot of rust colored marking. The wrapper on this cigar is very thin and delicate and there are a few small tears on the cigar. Very smooth wrapper with a couple of small veins. When I clipped the cigar, the wrapper began to completely unravel. At this point I pulled out the pectin and applied it to the cap area and to the small tears. I did not have any problems after this.
Feel: Firm from the foot throughout the body. Softer beginning at the taper to the head of the cigar
Tongue: A little bit of tingle, but not much of anything
Flavor on Draw: A little hint of gingerbread and a slight spice
Taste : Initial puffs gave way to a taste of tea leaves. This turned to a grassy/hay flavor. Again this turned to a woody taste and then again to a nutty flavor similar to pecan. At the beginning would occasionally get a hint of black pepper spice. Became more nutty at about one inch into cigar. A little less than the half-way point, nutty and spice became more pronounced. About an inch past that the spice picked up a little more. From this point on the taste remained fairly consistent with nutty, woody and spice.
Strength: This cigar started out fairly mild, but became much stronger. I would say a solid medium.
Feeling: The problems with the wrapper caused me to feel some disappointment, but the repair worked and I was very pleased with this cigar.
Scent of Smoke: I could not pick up on much of the scent because I was outside smoking and there was a slight breeze.
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: I began to pickup a little heat on my fingers when the cigar had burned down to 2 3/4 inches.
Draw: Great draw
Finish: Woody nuttiness with a touch of spice on the back of the throat.
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Tight ash that held on for over and inch and a half. At about 2 ¾ inches, the cigar became very soft and spongy. Because of the issues with the wrapper, this cigar only gets a 6. Based on taste alone, this cigar would get around a 7.5.

Pros: Decent draw earthy flavor.
Cons: Construction/flavor profile

Scent of wrapper: Wood Barnyard
Scent at foot: hay
Appearance:Veins/medium construction somewhat attractive.
Wrapper: light colored with a couple of lumps on it.
Feel: 2 soft spots but overall ok.
Tongue: not alot to add here...nothing
Flavor on Draw: earth/wood/barnyard
Taste: wood grass and some barnyard
Flavor Changes: not much at all...pretty consistant
Strength: mild
Feeling: not much to add...very average cigar.
Scent of smoke: just smok and barnyard.
Heat on fingers and in mouth: burned a little hot.
Draw: loose easy draw
Finish: medium finish...earthy...coated mouth
Other aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Had to relight twice but burned hot. may need higher humidity for storage...ok stick probably wont buy any...

Pros: Nice and light I really like it
Cons: To loosley packed

Cigar 107 my review of this nice torpedo cigar.

The wrapper had a few veins in it. I did not like that.

Feel: Spongy but loosely packed.

Tongue: Light

Flavor on Draw: Little Fruity, not bad.

Taste: plum, citrus vanilla

Flavor Changes, started more on the plum side than moved to the citrus side

Stregth, mild, I like a mild cigar once in awhile.

Pros: very nice construction, burn, draw, and ash were all great!
Cons: very mild, not too much flavor, missing wrapper in one spot

Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: standard barnyard/hay

Scent at Foot: same as wrapper but a bit lighter

Wrapper: nice light brown, wrapper is missing in a small section under where the band would be

Feel: feels a bit loosely packed with some harder spots here and there

Tongue: tobacoo

Flavor on Draw: hay, maybe a pinch of sweetness

Smoke
Taste: very mild with a bit of a nutty flavor

Flavor Changes: stayed very much the same throughout the smoke

Strength: very mild

Scent of Smoke: this cigar didn't produce much smoke and it was windy so i cannot answer this

Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: stayed nice and cool until around where the band would be

Draw: very nice, not too hard, not too soft

Finish: standard tobacco

Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: construction seems nice on this cigar except for the missing wrapper in one area, it burned cool and straight and held a very nice ash

overall i'd say this wasn't the cigar for me, it was too mild and just didn't deliver in flavor either, there was no harshness whatsoever tho, so maybe it would be a nice smoke for those who like very mild cigars
overall rating: 5, due to good construction, decent flavor, but it was just tooo mild

i put yes for recommmending it to someone else only because i think someone who likes mild smokes would like this one, but i don't know for sure

Pros:
Cons: Just didn't do it for me

I'm waaaay behind on getting these posted but here goes....

Scent of Wrapper & Foot - Just Tobacco, not a bad thing
Wrapper - Light Brown, mottled
Feel - Firm with one spongy spot
Flavor on Draw - Sweetish
Taste - Started off bready, nothing stood out beyond that.
Feeling - Somewhat creamy
Scent of Smoke - Spicy
Finish - Dry
Comments - poured off smoke at the foot between draws, slightly uneven burn.

Would I buy more or recommend this stick - probably not.
