Description: Villiger Export – Swiss-Made Elegance
As you might expect from Villiger, the Swiss manufacturer, each of these box-pressed cigars in the traditional German style is individually wrapped. Such is the Swiss attention to detail with the making of this cigar. In addition, the smoothness of the smoke is a testament to care taken in the selection of the Sumatra wrapper. Export is Villiger’s largest selling line worldwide. When you smoke them, you’ll understand why.

Pros: Taste
Cons: Overheated easily

Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: Faint hint of nuts
Scent at Foot: Toast and nuts
Wrapper: Slightly veiny. Box pressed. No cap.
Feel: Slight sponginess
Tongue: Rather bland
Flavor on Draw: Musty with a hint of cedar

Smoke
Taste: Woody, some roasted nut flavors.
Flavor Changes: After the first ¼ inch, flavors of cappuccino and hints of spice
Strength: Medium
Scent of Smoke: Earthy, woody
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: Occasional hot draw
Draw: Very free
Finish: Long toasty finish, tingle on front of tongue
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Easy to “oversmoke.”

This cigar confused me right away because both ends were open. Not having a cap to cut threw me for a loop, but after countless minutes of in-depth research, I finally decided which end would be the head of the cigar. Pre-light draw had a musty flavor that reminded me of opening Grandma’s cedar chest. This little cigar lit easily and I was rewarded with a woody, slightly nutty flavor. Very soon it developed hints of cappuccino with some spice overtones. Being such a small cigar and having such a free draw, it was very easy to overheat this cigar and several times I ended up with a mouth full of hot, bitter smoke. This is definitely a cigar that requires you to pace yourself.

An enjoyable smoke, but don’t think you can smoke it in a short amount of time. This cigar requires patience to get the most out of it.

Final Rating: 6

Pros: some nice leather flavors, construction
Cons: one dimensional, size

Blind Tasting Panel #112
41/2 x 36” Cigarillo

ATMOSPHERE: Smoked on a warm Arizona morning paired with iced tea and a good book. This was my second cigar of the day so that might have influenced my ability to pick up flavors.

PRE-SMOKE:
Scent: Not much at all from the wrapper or foot. Not even tobacco! No tingling from the tongue.

Appearance: Box press with natural, light-brown wrapper. Very smooth. Pre-cut: head and foot looked exactly the same…without the band I wasn’t sure which end to light 

Feel: A little soft.

Pre-light draw: Hay, not very strong.

SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: Slightly rich leather predominately. I didn’t pick up any other flavors and there were no real changes.

Strength: Mild.

Feeling: Not enjoyable to hold in mouth because of size.

Scent of smoke: Tons of bluish-white smoke. Burning wood (oak) mostly, nice.

Heat: None.

Draw & Burn: Very good draw and even burn.

Finish: Dry and short, mostly leather.

OTHER:
Ash: Very black ash that was pretty flaky but held OK.

Duration: Smoked to end in about 25 min.

CONCLUSION: I have to be honest I am not a big fan of small cigars like this. It had some nice leather flavors (similar to one of my favorite value smokes: the Padron Londres) just not as rich. The construction was good. This definitely does not fit my profile but I might recommend it to others that like a short smoke if it were really value priced.

FINAL RATING: 6/10

Cheers!

Pros: nice shape, good size for a quick smoke.
Cons: Twangy

This was a mini cigar with a natural wrapper. It has a box press with no cap.

The draw was good.

First Third: A slightly twangy tobacco taste. Nice smoke.

Second Third: More twang but not bad.

Third Third: Twangy with a nice smoke.

Overall: I wouldn't smoke this cigar, but it would be idea for people who like Dominican Tobacco. It's also good to introcude to a beginner since it was nice and mild.

Pros: Great construction and feel
Cons: Weird flavor

Blind review. Cigarillo 4 1/2 x 36 .

ATMOSPHERE: Smoked outside in the evening paired with fresh Alabama air.

PRE-SMOKE:
Scent: Smelled like wood.

Appearance: Great looking cigar, all short and sweet.

Feel: Small cigar. Nicely packed.

Pre-light draw: Mostly weird, stange wood taste, I can't put my finger on it, but my mouth sure did taste it.

SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: Strange wood flavor. I really wanted to like this cigar, and I almost did.

Strength: Medium.

Feeling: Small and nice.

Scent of smoke: Some kind of wood, can't describe it.

Heat: Just right.

Draw & Burn: Nice burn and excellent draw!

Finish: Same as the start.

OTHER:
Ash: Great ash!

Duration: Smoked until about 1” remaining in roughly 20 minutes.

CONCLUSION: An interesting little cigar. I wanted to love it, but instead I just liked it. Wish I knew the word for the flavor, which was not bad but very different.

FINAL RATING: 6.0 - Weird flavor

Pros: Unique
Cons: Bad Taste

This cigar was funky. Unique shape and size. Very VERY unique taste. This cigar is, a budget cigar I am sure and dose a fine job as such. Overall I gave it a 4 but as inexpensive cigars go I would give it a 7.'

1/3 Nice flavor....but unique, can't tell what it is. Smooth and cool.

2/3 Picking up heat and harshness. The wrapper is beginning to soften.

3/3 Very spicy and harsh. A finished cap may have help this cigar out alot!!

Overall, Not bad...Not bad at all for what class it is in.

Pros: construction
Cons: everything else

Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: NA
Scent at Foot: woody
Wrapper: natural color, big veins
Feel: good fill
Tongue: NA
Flavor on Draw: NA

Smoke
Taste: Very mild I could not pick up anything but the profile was not pleasant at all
Flavor Changes: pretty consistent
Strength: very very mild
Scent of Smoke: NA
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: at the end
Draw: perfect
Finish: NA
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Construction is good, so is the burn

To be honest I would not be caught smoking this. It is not even a cigar Asthetically as a cigar smoker I find the presentation bad.

As someone who enjoys the taste ofa cigar I was repulsed by what I got from this stick. Extremelly low on flavor and the one I did get I did not like one bit. At least the construction is good

The only target market I see for this is perhaps Europe where they like cigarilos or maybe someone who wants to smoke a cigarette that looks like a pressed cigarette without a filter SORRY BUT THIS IS A SAD CREATION

Pros: Lots of smoke, good draw
Cons: Kind of plain or simple in its flavor profile. I would call it sort of monotone.

PRESMOKE

Scent of Wrapper: Not aromatic.
Scent at Foot: Nothing, not aromatic.
Appearance: Cigarillo, square pressed. 4.5 x 36 ring.

Wrapper: Medium smooth, not toothy, small veins. Very consistent wrapper color - med. brown. Slight sheen.

Feel: Consistent from head to foot, very slightly spongy.

Tongue: No tingle. No flavor.

Flavor on Draw: Very slight hint of brown sugar/molasses.

SMOKE

Lit easily and immediately produced a hearty quantity of smoke. Draw is about right, perhaps a little tighter than I expected from a cigar of this small size.

1st Third:

I picked up a flavor that is sort of like a very mild pine needle or pine wood flavor. The flavor is mild and a little bit understated. It is difficult for me to pick out a characteristic flavor. Dry cedar type flavor, with not much else.

Strength: The flavor is mild to mild-medium.

The feeling (or nicotine strength) is mild. No nicotine effects.

Scent of the Smoke: Very light and mildly aromatic, not heavy.

Heat on fingers and mouth: Nothing observed.

Draw: Good draw. About the right amount of resistance. Maybe leaning a tiny bit towards tight, but no problem with draw.

Finish: Short and crisp finish. Finish does not linger very long. Somewhat dry and woody finish.

Other: Consistent, even burn line. Wrapper is holding up well - not wanting to unravel. Produces wonderful clouds of smoke easily. Short finish. I think this would be an agreeable quick lunch time smoke. It is something you could walk around with and finish in less than 30 minutes. I like this cigar okay, but it is a little bit monotone in flavor - it could use a little extra flavor characteristic to make it a little more interesting. I do like how it burns and the quantity of smoke is great.

I would rate the construction about a 6.5 and the flavor at about 5.5. All in all, it is a good smoke and I would be happy to fork over 75 cents a stick on these to have a couple around for the occasional lunch time smoke. This cigar did not wow me, but it did not offend me either. The best feature of this cigar is the quantity of smoke it produces! Love that!

Flavor Changes: no-too short of smoke for any distinctive changes

Pros: Did not need a cutter.
Cons: Flavor profile, finish

This stick did not have a cap. That was the first thing I noticed. Then I saw that there were lots of small stems which were "cut" on which I believed was the foot of the cigar. This was a small spongy stuck with some visible viens on the wrapper which was a meduim brown smooth with no oilyness to it. I could not really pick up anything from the wrapper as far as flavors. I did get some spicyness and leather from the foot of this stick. I then took some pre-light draws from it and got a strong barnyard flavor with a hint of mustyness. I tasted alot of leather also. I toasted and lit this lil guy up and proceded to smoke it. It was burning very well and had a very easy draw to it. I believe the draw was a little too "open" as it brought alot of heat to the fingers and lips. I tasted a little spice and almost a burnt sugar flavor. It had hints of very bitter "something" I could not really pinpoint it. I did not get any real flavors from the actual smoke. The finish on the tongue was not pleasant as it had a very bitter bite to it. I did not enjoy this stick and believe age, and lots of it may make it a little more mellow. The flavors just did not harmonize together to make it an enjoyable stick. It did produce lots of smoke and had a nice urn and ash to it, but it needs alot of work on the blending. I will give this stick a 4 on construction because it had no cap. I give the flavor a 3. On the ICRS rating system I give it a 3.75 overall.

Pros: Great for a quick smoke
Cons: None

Scent of Wrapper: Light sweet tobacco with cedar
Scent at Foot: Same light sweet tobacco
Wrapper: Light natural colored wrapper with very small veins and a few areas with small spots. Clipped at both ends – not really sure which end is the head or foot.
Feel: Somewhat spongy from head to foot
Tongue: A little tingly but no real taste
Flavor on Draw: Very strong taste of cedar – almost a smokey cedar flavor. Also there is a little spiciness from the cedar.
Taste: Very woody tasting. Picked up a grassy vegetal flavors when exhaled through the sinuses. About ¾” into cigar picking up nutty flavors. Overall lots of woody-cedar and nutty flavors. Got bitter at the very end (1-1/4” left) – time to put it down.
Strength: Mild strength leaning toward medium
Feeling: Very surprised. Was not expecting such a pleasant smoke
Scent of Smoke: Woody scent
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: Picked up heat on the fingers with about 1-1/2” left.
Draw: Deliberate
Finish: Light and fresh woody scent
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: A lot of smoke for such a small cigar. Excellent burn. Very good cigar.

Pros: Construction
Cons: flavors

Scent of Wrapper: Very hard to tell...maybe some pepper
Scent at Foot: nuts
Appearance: box press probably about a 39 Rg. No cap.
Wrapper: wrapped nicely, box bress.
Feel:some give
Tounge: butter and nuts
Flavor On Draw: very strange draw flavors...I had a real hard time with this...I picked up a medicinal/herbal/mushroom combo...unpleasant to me.
Taste: The draw flavors were predominant. i was not impressed with the flavor profile. It add, however, some nutty flavors and very little herbal after the first couple of puffs. It stables out from the middle, but just a strange flavor profile than what im apparently used to.
Flavor Changes: very odd flavors early on moved to a better blend pf herbs and nuts. just not my cup of tea.
Strength: mild
Feeling: Had to talk myself to continue smoking this. It cold be a decent smoke for those who like the flavors this produces...just not me.
Scent of Smoke: hard to say...herbs maybe.
Heat on Fingers and Mouth: this burned a little hotter, but i usually smoke larger ring gauges and this may have been the reason...Smoker error.
Draw: Easy.
Finish: short...thank God.
Other Aspects of Cigar Smoking Experience: I dont usually smoke a cigarella like this. Very interesting flavors and unusual amount of smoke. i wont be smoking any more of these...

Pros: Easy, short smoke
Cons: Size

Pre-Smoke

Scent of Wrapper: No discernable scent.
Scent at Foot: I picked up something sweet/metallic.
Wrapper: Caramel Brown color with one large vein running through the wrapper.
Feel: Fairly firm from top to bottom.
Tongue: Nothing
Flavor on Draw: Hopefully I was smoking the right end, but I got nothing.

Smoke

Taste: I was picking up a lot of different things - Leathery, Burnt Toast, Clove, Spices. A lot of what I was picking up I think could be construed as harsh or bitter. My tongue is nowhere near as good as Rob's.
Strength: Medium
Feeling: I did not have to worry about keeping it lit - very easy smoke.
Smoke: Bountiful, hearty smoke on exhale - great for smoke rings, if you know how to blow them.
Heat: Picked up heat was it approached the 1" mark.
Draw: Very easy
Finish: Long and leathery
Other: Easy light, coning, solid light grey ash.

I was pretty impressed with this little cigar. I'm not sure what exactly did it for me but I enjoyed the 30+ minutes it took to smoke this down to a nub. Overall, I would rate this at a solid 7.0 on the ICRS scale.
