Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: very soft tobacco taste, couldn't pick up much more than that.
Wrapper: Very coarse wrapper, twisted in places, like it had dried up after it had been put on and become wrinkled.
Feel: very spongy, it felt quite under filled. The pre-lighting draw confirmed this, very much air drawn through.
Tongue: noted tobacco, a hint of dampness on the taste (like chewing tobacco)
Flavor on Draw: mild tobacco, still felt a bit wet.
Smoke: Lots of nice smoke when you wanted it, I could blow some nice smoke rings throughout.
Taste: Very spicy at first, tasted like a Cuban Montecristo, but a bit sharper. After the first cm I knocked the ash and then the cigar mellowed out, became much softer, smoother, hints of floral (jasmine?) and spice. This continued throughout the rest in waves. Periods of more spice were followed by periods of more floral taste.
Strength: strong at first, then medium throughout the rest.
Feeling: Given that the cigar was under filled, and seemed a bit wet, even though it had been in 65% (beads) for a few months, the feeling I got was one of annoyance. The cigar kept fighting me to keep it alive and even burning. Periods of hope were mixed with periods of despair. The uneven burn was strange, it was first on one side, then I corrected it and it began on the other side and then back again.
Scent of Smoke: some floral scents. Quite pleasant, not something that disturbs others.
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: nothing special noted until I had to put it down. I only got to 2/3 then the cigar didn't want to play anymore. The uneven burn gave out completely and I got tired of it.
Draw: Very easy draw. Probably because it was under filled and this is most likely the cause of the initial sharp spiciness and the uneven burn.
Finish: Somewhat dry and short finish. Doesn't support the theory that the cigar might have been too wet. Therefore I deduct all problems belong to the under filling.
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: The whole experience was interesting. I had very high expectations on this cigar, having heard lots of nice things about it. My hope was of a spicy cigar with lots of complexity and a full body. My initial reaction from the first puff was "Wow! This is a spicy motherxxxxer, Montecristo here we come....!” Second puff said "Hmmm calm down a bit, this is getting a bit rough....” That went on until the flakey ash made me have to knock it off after around 1/2 inch as I felt it was going to end up in my lap. All and all I was disappointed with the construction. I have one more of these in my humidor and hope it will better resemble the Camacho Corojo I was hoping to experience with this one.
