Pros: Construction, draw, toasty flavor, smoke output
Cons: Tannic/sour flavor notes

This cigar is light brown with a few prominent veins. It was hard to the pinch in regards to feel. The scent of the wrapper is of wintergreen. I used my single-blade cutter on it and had a good, clean cut with no wrapper issues to speak of. Upon placing my tongue on the cut end, I received a bit of spice. In smelling the foot, I detected a fruity, dried-fruit flavor. The flavor on the draw was of a cedary nature.

Upon lighting the foot, I quickly noticed a dominate toasty-roasted nuts flavor. The beginning was very pleasant flavor wise, though the middle portion had a good dose of sour-tannic that wasn't a highlight of the smoking experience. The sour portion lessened and the toasty-roasted nuts flavor became more noticeable during the last two inches of the cigar. The draw was nice and firm, in other words, just right; a definite quality of this fine smoke. This is a mild cigar that would be an ideal morning smoke.

This cigar gives one a slight spice on the tongue with a noticeable toasty aspect in the mouth that lasts for the duration of the smoking experience. Perhaps it's biggest strength was the after taste, which was of a heavy toasty-roasted nuts flavor that quickly made up for the bitter middle half of it. The construction on this cigar is just impeccable, it's solid and the smoke output is very prodigious, not to mention that it contains a very pleasant aroma of the before mentioned roasted nuts. The last inch and a half of it was very enjoyable and I ended up nubbing this one as it was very rewarding.

Pros: draw, flavor, smoke
Cons: some miscoloration in wrapper

wrapper was light brown, nice smell at the foot, smells of hay/straw and a fruit i cannot place. Wrapper tasted a little of wintergreen, but mainly hay/straw as well. Cut very well, no problems with the cut throughout the smoke. Upon putting my tongue on the cut i sensed some spice and some tingle on the tongue. The pre-light draw held a hay and cedar.

The light was very easy, one match and i was set. The flavor still had a hint of cedar and straw, but pre-dominantly of roasted nuts. It was a little rough for the first 1/2 inch, but got smoother as the cigar went on. I didn't sense a sour part, as Maduro Scotty did, but the draw is exactly as he started. Perfect.

This is a good cigar, and i would recommend it becuase it left just enough flavor on the tongue that you enjoy it after your done, but its not overwhelming. The construction of the cigar was very nice, firm but not hard. The wrapper had some small miscontinuities. The end of the wrapper, near the cap, was a much lighter color than the rest of the cigar, and some parts were a little loose, but it still burned rather great.

If this cigar was in the $3-$6 range, it would be an everyday smoke for me.

Pros: Nice Wrapper very few Viens (small) Smell and Taste
Cons: Not much to smell

Cut very clean, smell of cedar and scent of cedar on the foot. Nice size and feel. It felt nicely rolled and tight that did not reflect on the draw. After cut slight tingle on the tongue and draw very well. Lit well and reminded me of a robust Monte. Loss that instinct about half way because of the heat to the tongue. Mild to Medium strength and not a bad aroma. Feeling good during smoke and felt relaxed--this I liked. No heat until last 1/3 little to the tongue. Finish was a combination Cedar/ Hay --woodsy. $3 - $5.00 cigar. I would recommend this to anyone that smokes mild to medium cigars. Nice cigar.

Pros: I didn't have to do any touch ups on the burn as it was flawless. The ash was great, even gray coloring, held on well and only fell when I forced it.
Cons: Hard to the touch and the draw was hard, not like a milk-shake but no where near where I like them.

  • The scent on the wrapper and the foot were pretty equal of straw.
  • The appearance was decent, the cap cut well with my Xikar punch and continued good for the entire smoke without unwrapping, etc. There were a couple of veins mainly at the top and a couple of straight "ridge" lines down the entire length. I notice that the foot was a little ragged. However, none of this look really detracted, but due to those ridges I would think in may be a less expensive smoke.
  • It felt relatively tight/hard all the way down without varying.
  • I didn't notice any strong flavors in the pre-light draw or tongue just a slight noticeable woody taste.
  • The first 1/3 had a good grassy/straw taste; with a great firm gray ash. I didn't have to knock it off until it was about 1.3" long and then I only did it so that it wouldn't fall on my shirt. I think it could have gone further.
  • The 2/3 changed slightly to a more sandalwood or even balsa wood taste that was pleasant.
  • The final 3rd had a definite bagel flavor to it and became a little sweeter than the rest of the smoke.
  • I have to comment on the ash and burn too. It was a great even burn that looked like it was cut with a razor and there was a slight oily sheen at the burn line. I don't know if that makes it taste better but it looked good.
  • The strength was mild throughout, again not to my liking but it has pleasant flavors all along.
  • The room scent was, again woody with a sweet spicy odor that even my wife didn't find unpleasant (rare with a cigar).
  • The heat of the cigar on fingers and mouth was average and never uncomfortable.
  • One of my biggest complaints was it was harder to draw that what I care for. On IRCS I would say "hardly". This is a big turn off for me.
Overall I enjoyed it for a mild smoke.

My rating for this stogie would be a firm 6 and if it sold for $3-$4 I would buy some and enjoy them in the future.

Pros: A lot of smoke
Cons: Wrapper peeled off

The wrapper had a scent of straw. The smell at the foot was of straw and light cedar. The pre-lit draw was excellent and tasted of straw. The taste at the cut head was a little tingling. I would not say spicy really because there was no flavor other than straw and cedar, but it did make the tongue burn a little.

The wrapper was nice except there was a split in it that tended to unravel as I smoked the cigar. Right from the start this cigar put out a lot of smoke. The smoke was grassy and mellow. The ash was grey with large patches of black and even tan in it. Based on this I would say the cigar has not been aged very long as its congeners and ammonia have not dissipated yet.

The flavor was pretty consistent all the way through: Straw, light cedar, with a slight burn on the tongue if I held the smoke in my mouth. For such a mild cigar, the burn could also be a sign of the "youth" of this stick.

The cigar stayed cool throughout. I smoked this with a Cadillac Margarita made from Jose Cuervo 1800 and Gran Marnier. Not my usual rum on the rocks, but I had very little of the drink while smoking the cigar its influence was probalby negligible.

I would like to try this cigar after some aging and see what it is like. Overall, a mild cigar with a lot of smoke. However, the smoke was mild and non-offensive. I did not rate the cigar higher because of the wrapper issue and the tannic taste even though that is probably due to a lack of aging.

Pros: Consistent flavor, sturdy ash, and very even burn
Cons: slight wrapper tear, but that was probably my fault.

Pre-smoke

Scent of Wrapper: Strangely enough, I just smell sweet, tobacco goodness…

Scent at Foot: Hay, maybe even a slightly floral note

Wrapper: A few small veins. Overall an excellently rolled cigar. Beautiful construction, with a nice, even wrap and tight, even cap.

Feel: Consistent firmness; not overly so.

Tongue: Very mellow with very little spiciness. Like oats

Flavor on Draw: Oats; earthiness (reminded me of the smell of the forest floor in the fall…yes, I’ve spent a good bit of time in the woods)

Smoke
Taste: Initially this stick was very much like some of Ashton’s offerings. It has a very “clean” taste; almost berry-like.

Flavor Changes: Occasional cedar notes, but pretty much consistent down to the nub.

Strength: Fairly mild throughout.

Feeling: N/A

Scent of Smoke: I don’t know why, but this reminded me of Dunhill’s Dominican cigars of years ago (the 1986 vintage came to mind…I was a big fan)

Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: Slight; about average

Draw: Ever so slightly tight, but not inconvenient at all.

Finish: Short; malty or like oats

Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience:
I thoroughly enjoyed this cigar, and put it at an 8.0+. It reminded me of some of the Ashton originals, or even Cabinets. It had a nice, even burn (no touchups required), a sturdy ash, and consistent flavor. I liked it. A lot…and that's saying a lot coming from a committed maduro man!

Final Rating: 8.0

Pros: Aroma
Cons: Strength

A nice looking cigar all in all. It had a slight aroma of honey. Well constructed and felt firm and solid. Before light draw was light and pleasant. Could this be a Macanudo?

Once lit, it had a light taste, with nothing fancy or overpowering. Ditto on the aroma. The draw was a slight bit too easy, but not enough to be a problem. It burned fairly evenly with a firm, dark gray ash. This cigar never got too hot for the hand or the mouth.

All things considered, it smoked and tasted like a Macanudo. For some smokers, this is a good thing. For those wanting more strength and "personality" to their cigars it is more of a ho-hum cigar. This makes it hard to rate.

Macanudo/light cigar fans: 9

Everybody else: 5

Averaged rating: 6

If you love the lighter cigars, or want something that will not offend those around you, GET THIS CIGAR! Otherwise, you will probably want to give it a pass.

Scent of foot: Smelled of hay

Wrapper Light brown, with some greenish spots. not too veiny.

Feel: Consistently firm

Tongue: Made my tongue tingle a little

Flavor on draw: Good feeling draw but flavors were mild to non-existant.

Smoke

Taste: I couldn't really put my finger on a taste, let's just say I enjoyed it.

Strength: Mild to Medium

Feeling: -------

Scent of Smoke: There was too much other smoke in the air to tell.

Heat on fingers and mouth: Got a bit hot halfway through and the wrapper cracked on me.

Draw: Great draw but didn't produce a whole lot of smoke until after the halfway point.

Finish: long finish, smooth

Other Aspects: Touched up the burn a few times but mainly just because I was being anal.

Pros: Perfect draw, excellent construction
Cons: Heat in mouth too soon

PRE-SMOKE

Scent of Wrapper: Herbal tea, slight mint with cedar
Scent at Foot: Similar to the wrapper, tea with hints of raisin
Appearance of Wrapper: Very nice wrapper, minor veins, no discoloration or uneven edges, nearly flawless
Feel: Very firm from cap to foot
Tongue: Slight tingle , herbal taste
Flavor on Draw: Herbal tea, dried fruit of some sort

SMOKE

Taste: Mild roasted nutty flavors initially, developing to sandalwood and finishing with a slightly sweetened raisin flavor
Strength: Very mild to medium
Feeling: Introspective, curious, reflective... a nice pairing with the sunset
Scent of Smoke: Light woodsy smell, very faint
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: Became hot in the mouth far too quickly, almost immediately
Draw: Absolutely perfect
Finish: Dry with woody notes, raisin flavor that faded rapidly

FINAL RATING: Five - I typically lean towards stronger cigars, but someone who likes the milder smokes will enjoy this. I may not be adding this to my personal permanent rotation, but I'll certainly point a few light-body cigar fan friends this way.

Pros: great draw
Cons: I had to drop it & run to fire station

This was turning out to be a great smoke. THe wrapper had a few bits missing off it, but didnt effect the smoke at all. Mild cigar, and not overly firm, but not too tight. A scent of hay from the cigar pre light. Couldnt really pick up on any flavours, but that may have to do with the strength, or the fact its 30+ here today, and low humidity. ie hot. Sorry this is a short review, but I had to drop it in the yard and scoot to the fire station. I would like to know what this was, so I can get another 2-3 and try them again, but, like the last cigar, there wasnt anything that really grabbed me and got my attention.

Pros: UNIFORM IN COLOR AND A GOOD DRAW. SCENT OF WRAPPER IS MINTY, WITH BUTTERY AND COFFEE TASTES
Cons: LEFT A FRUITY AFTER TASTE

The scent of the wrapper was minty and pretty uniform. Tasted a little sweet before light up. After light up it was coffee tasteing with a hint of butter. The only thing I did not like was the fruity after taste. I am still going through mints to get the taste out of my mouth.
