Description: Sat down this very hot afternoon with an Opus X Petite Lancero. The reason for the '?' is that I don't remember it having a pointed cap. But,then again, I'm getting old and don't remember so much anymore.

I used the ICRS form to take my notes...wish it had more room to write on! Here's my take on this cigar:

Scent of wrapper: Had that classic Opus spicy, cedary smell, along with a good healthy dose of good tobacco.

The scent at the foot was almost purely aged tobacco along with the rich smell of leather.

The wrapper was a beautiful montage of deep reds and browns...almost a mottled look.

The feel was almost perfect except for a little hardness around the cap.

The initial unlit flavor on my tongue was black, black pepper.....maybe a little salty too. But, it reminded me of how pepper tastes when pan seared onto a steak. The flavor on the test draw was sweet and very spicy.

As one would expect, the cigar produced volumes of wonderfully smelling smoke. Very leathery and full of spices. The length of the cigar kept the smoke cool and easily held in your mouth for most of the cigar.

The strength started out medium body, then became full on strong after about an inch and a half, and continued to build until it became a bit harsh once I removed the band. A couple of times the nic zing was very present and had to put the cigar down and give myself a minute. I was sitting on my porch with a ceiling fan on, which I believe caused the cigar to go out a couple times while resting it.

The draw was impeccable. Just the right amount of resistance, but, not so much that is was laborious.

The cigar had a long finish on the palate and there was a pleasant peppery sting on the lips that lingered even after the cigar was put down.

Once I got to the point where the band had to come off, the smoke started getting a little harsh and the heat was building up along with nicotine strength. When it went out after removing the band, I let it go.

Overall, I really enjoyed this cigar. X's have long been one of my faves and this size was an excellent hour and a half smoke. I got most of the way through the last installment of the Dogwatch Social Club. Thanks Bob and Dale for the company!
