Pros: nicely balance sweet, spicy and leather in last 2/3, even burn, price
Cons: unbalanced sweetness in first 1/3, rough appearance

Indian Tabac Cameroon Legend Maduro
Chimp (Robusto)
5 x 52

ATMOSPHERE: Smoked on a warm and breezy morning in a park accompanied with root beer and DWSC on my iPod.

PRE-SMOKE:
Scent: Very nice leather and rich cocoa from the wrapper. Basic tobacco with slight sweet aroma from the foot.

Appearance: Rough and gritty looking, dark chocolate brown wrapper with a couple of large veins visible. Very rough (like fine grit sandpaper) to the touch. A couple of stems were visible in the foot.

Feel: Hard in some spots, especially near the head of the cigar.

Pre-light draw: Nothing on the tongue after my punch cut. Light chocolate and basic tobacco on the prelight draw.

SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: Started out very sugary with raisin and bread flavors. I detected a tiny bit of pepper on the roof of my mouth and this became a bit strong when I expelled the smoke through my nose. It was pretty unbalanced for the first 1/3 with the sweetness being too dominant. At about the 1/3 it became more leathery still with a bit of sweetness and a bit more spice…it was much more balanced at this point and I enjoyed it a lot more.

Strength: Mild to medium.

Feeling: A little hard to chew at first because I was worried about cracking and the sweetness was bit overpowering when I held it in my mouth too long. Much nicer after the first 1/3.

Scent of smoke: A little bit difficult to pick out aromas because it was breezy but I did get mild woody and sweet aroma.

Heat: None at all.

Draw & Burn: Nice deliberate draw. Perfect even burn that did not require any corrections.

Finish: Medium length finish with a sweet chocolate and leather flavor.

OTHER:
Ash: Light grey ash that held very well. Nice cone after first ashing (see photo).

Duration: Nubbed in about 1 hr. Seemed to burn a little fast but may have been the wind.

CONCLUSION: The first third of this cigar was a little too sweet and unbalanced for my tastes but after that it had a nice balance of leather, spice, and sweetness which I quite enjoyed. It reminded me a lot of the Quinterro Maduro with a little more complexity. The construction and burn were great despite it’s rough appearance. This is a nice morning smoke that it as good value with a $2 price tag and I would recommend it.

FINAL RATING: 6.9/10

Cheers!

Rob
