Bucanero Clasico Maduro
Belicoso
6 x 54

ATMOSPHERE: Smoked on early, early in the morning (thus the very dark photos) on my patio paired with iced tea and the new Harry Potter book. I have had a couple of these and have enjoyed them a lot in the past…the great folks at Bucanero were even nice enough to add a free one in my last order!
PRE-SMOKE:
Scent: Leather and coffee from the wrapper. Rich tobacco with a slightly sweet/fruity odor from the foot.
Appearance: Toothy, dark chocolate brown wrapper with a few large veins visible. Flawless torpedo cap. Excellent construction!

Feel: Hard-packed (but not dry) throughout the cigar.
Pre-light draw: No tingle on my tongue after a blade cut…just a nice tobacco flavor. Basic tobacco on the draw as well.
SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: Lots of very nice flavors! Started off with a creamy coffee flavor with a hint of cocoa and toast. After a few draws to detect a really unique spicy flavor that I have not experienced before in a cigar. It took me awhile to identify it but it was spicy cinnamon (like you get with a red hot candy). I detected this on my lips and tongue and it became more intense when expelled through the nose. At about the half way point the cigar picked up an additional nice leather flavor.

Strength: Medium.
Feeling: Good resistance to chewing. Torpedo shape very comfortable in hand and mouth. The wrapper gave a nice sweet and tingling spicy flavor when the cigar was held in the mouth.
Scent of smoke: Good amount of smoke burning wood and grassy aroma.
Heat: A little bit on the fingers in the last 1” or do.
Draw & Burn: Perfect draw. The burn was a little uneven and required a few corrections. The band came off easily when the burn line got near to it.

Finish: Long finish with bitter chocolate and sugary sweetness + leather and a little bit of the cinnamon tingle. Very enjoyable!
OTHER:
Ash: Slightly flaky grey ash that held well.

Duration: Nubbed in about 1.5 hrs.
CONCLUSION: A thoroughly enjoyable maduro with nice coffee, cocoa and leather flavors plus a flavor that I have not experienced in any other cigar – hot cinnamon. A very nice sweet and leathery aftertaste. Construction and draw were excellent. A few minor burn issues occurred but that did not take away appreciably from the smoking experience. This is one of my favorite maduros and I recommend it highly..it is well worth the $7 price tag.
FINAL RATING:
Cheers!
