Pros:
|
Pleasant, mild to mild-medium flavor. Cameroon spice noticeable but not overpowering.
|
|
Cons:
|
Had to sometimes work to get enough smoke. Terribly delicate wrapper.
|
|
PRE-SMOKE
Scent of Wrapper: Somewhat aromatic. Sweet, grassy aroma.
Scent at Foot: Similar to wrapper, but more faint.
Appearance: Torpedo shape
Wrapper: Almost smooth, not toothy, small veins. Very consistent wrapper color - med. brown. Slight sheen. Exceptionally delicate and thin wrapper. Tears and splits easily. Acts like a Cameroon wrapper.
Feel: Consistent from head to foot. Fairly tightly wrapped. Very slightly spongy in the middle.
Tongue: No tingle. Mildly sweet taste.
Pre-light Flavor on Draw: Light molasses flavor, definite hints of black licorice.
SMOKE
Lit up quickly. Decent draw. Noted the typical spice of a Cameroon wrapper when I lit it up. I had some trouble with the wrapper wanting to unravel, tear, and split when I cut it. The absence of a band may have been contributing to the problem, so I found a band to wrap around it to try and hold it together.
Paired with Knob Creek Bourbon (Neat).
Lots of Cameroon-like flavor & spice. I am not a big Cameroon fan, but this Cameroon-like flavor was not overpowering like some and quickly mellowed by about 1/2 inch into the cigar. The cigar has some flavors I would associate with a Nicaraguan cigar.
Cigar is producing less than desirable amount of smoke. Produces no smoke when resting. I really have to draw on it a lot to get a satisfying amount of smoke in my mouth. I wish it would produce smoke a little more easily. Re-cutting the torpedo after 3/4 inch helped this somewhat.
Smoke is pleasant and smooth. Not harsh at all. Flavors hidden behind the Cameroon spice are a little difficult for me to pick out, but the cigar has a fairly dry character to it, perhaps a bit of Field Grass or Hay flavor and some Cedar tones. Creates a pleasant aromatic cedar and spice scent in the room.
Strength: The flavor is mild-medium.
The feeling (or nicotine strength) is mild. No noticeable nicotine effects.
Scent of the Smoke: Very pleasant and aromatic, not heavy. Smells like cedar and spice. I think most people would say it smells good.
Heat on fingers and mouth: Nothing observed.
Draw: Draw was too tight where I normally cut a torpedo. Decided to cut it a second time. This improved the draw - now I would say it has an excellent draw. Just the right amount of resistance. Perfect!
Finish: Short and mild finish. Finish does not linger very long. Dry and woody finish. Bourbon is almost too strong for this cigar...might should have paired it with a lighter scotch instead.
Other: Fairly consistent burn line - a few touchups with the lighter. Acted like it might have wanted to go out a few times. Wrapper is delicate and has a tendency to want to unravel on me at the head. Preface by saying I am not a big Cameroon fan, but this Cameroon had some great qualities to it. Not overpoweringly spicy like some I have had. I thought the cigar was well-balanced, fairly well refined, and very pleasant to smoke. I would suggest this cigar to someone who was put off by some of the other Cameroon cigars out there. This is a very mild and pleasant example of Cameroon. Ash is light and doesn't hold on well. I tended to have a lot of ash in my lap!
Overall, I would rate this cigar 6.4. which is between Good and Very Good.

Pros:
|
Great looking stick, amazing flavor profile
|
|
Cons:
|
a small burn issue in the beginning
|
|
Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: Spicy hue reminiscent of Corojo
Scent at Foot: Spicy and woodsy tingles the nose a bit
Wrapper: a very pleasant brown tan on this cigar, smooth wrapper looked perfect
Feel: cigar feels like it is filled just perfectly
Tongue: a bit tangy and pleasant
Flavor on Draw: woodsy and cedary
So far this is promising to be a great cigar; let's hope that is the case
Smoke
Taste: Starts with loads of spice and later mellows out a bit bringing in more creamy cedary flavors
Flavor Changes: changed about 2 inches in
Strength: on the high medium low full side
Scent of Smoke: very pleasant
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: NA
Draw: perfect
Finish: long lasting and pleasant with evident spices
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Hada bit of a burn problem in the begining favoring one side more than the other, but corrected itself quite nicelly
Overall I enjoyed this cigar tremendously and except for that minor burn problem it was a flawless smoke. Who ever manufactured this cigar should be very proud of this product !!!!!

Pros:
|
Great draw. Nice flavor.
|
|
Cons:
|
Horrible burn issues. Had to work to keep it lit.
|
|
I enjoyed the smell of the cigar pre-light. The wrapper looks good although there is a few thick veins running through it. The cigar is a little soft in some spots and I notice a dent about midway down the cigar. I anticipate this causing a burn issue.
When I first lit this cigar there was very little smoke in the mouth but a ton poured from the foot. The flavor to me can only be described as woody with a little bit of sweetness.
I am already having a slight issue with the burn that I hope corrects itself. I need to draw on this one two or three times to get the burn going. It doesnt seem to want to stay lit.
I am enjoying the flavor though. The finish is very short. I am now getting a very flaky ash that is splitting all over the place. The smoke in the mouth has changed though and the draw is perfect. This seems to be medium in strength.
The ash fell after about an inch and a half. The burn now seems to be corrected with a slight touch up. The burn, draw and flavor are nice now and I am about half way through this cigar.
Well...here comes more burn issues as I get to the point where the dent in the wrapper was. The cigar is tunneling horribly. I tend to let cigars work through their burn issues and leave them alone but this one cant be ignored.
I have about 2 inches left on this cigar and I give up. Although I liked the flavor and draw, the burn is killing it for me. Usually I am very patient with burn issues but this one is bad.
I am hoping I just got a bad one because I may actually enjoy this cigar without the burn issues. I would buy another to try and see if I had a bad one. At some points I really enjoyed the cigar so I would try another.

Pros:
|
Wonderful Draw well made smoke
|
|
Cons:
|
a couple of burn issues near the end
|
|
Pre-Smoke:
Sent of wrapper: Grassy hay or straw type of sent, sort of earthy
Sent at foot: Spicy wood sent, very nice
Wrapper + Appearance: smooth brown wrapper with small veins running throughout. I could not find any blemish. I thought that the tapering at the end to make the torpedo shape was a bit longer than normal, over an inch.
Feel: Packed well and hard, could not find any soft spots.
Tongue: Not much there
Flavor on Draw: Earthy, cedar flavor, some spice coming through.
Smoke
Taste: I initially was hit with some spice flavors that were very nice. After an inch and a half or so, I started to mellow out on the spice and was tasting a cedar and grassy tobacco flavor that I enjoy. This stayed with the smoke throughout.
Strength: Mild/Medium
Burn: Had a very nice burn going. Two times I had to do a small touch up. At the end of the smoke this became more of an issue.
Heat on fingers and in Mouth: None
Draw: Draw was not what I would call loose, but also not tight, almost a perfect draw...at the start, then it tightened up about half way through for about 1/2 an inch, and then it loosened up again. Not really much of an issue for me as this cigar produced plenty of smoke.
Finish: Very nice cedar flavor on the finish, not over powering but good.
Overall: All in all, I would say that this cigar was good. Nice white ash, nice draw very nice construction. All in all I would give this a 7 or Very Good rating. For my first blind cigar to review this was a winner.

Pros:
|
Oily wrapper, consistent flavor
|
|
Cons:
|
burn problems
|
|
Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: A little cinnamon spice
Scent at Foot: sweet spice w/toffee
Appearance: Missile shaped with a very pointed head, medium brown wrapper with a small crack and an opening in the wrapper fold about mid-way of the cigar
Wrapper: nice oily sheen to the wrapper, very thin, corojo or sun grown I think
Feel: firm, solidly packed, slight spring
Tongue: nothing distinguishable
Flavor on Draw: salty & metallic
Smoke
Taste: At first light I could taste roasted almonds, very smooth with a gentle back throat bite
Flavor Changes: First 3rd. no flavor change – still roasted almonds & smooth, 2nd. Third roasted almonds with the same metallic taste as at light up
Strength: mild to medium
Feeling: medium bodied
Scent of Smoke: light and sweet, almost floral
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: none at all
Draw: Easy with a little resistance.
Finish: A short finish, no lingering flavors
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: The burn started to go uneven after a very even lighting, after an inch into the smoke I had to touch it up to even out the burn, I consistently had problems with coning, and I had to re-light this cigar four times.
A good medium bodied cigar, nice flavors of roasted almonds with notes of metallic taste. It was fairly consistent. I would smoke this one again depending on the price. The burn issues and the lifting/loose wrapper leaf were the major deterrents.
Final Rating: I rate this a 4-Slightly Flawed

Blind Tasting Panel #118
? x ?, Torpedo

ATMOSPHERE: Smoked on a sunny morning on my patio paired with a root beer and a good book.
PRE-SMOKE:
Scent: Nice leather and pepper from the wrapper. Musty and cedary aroma from the foot.
Appearance: Milk chocolate brow, veiny, oily wrapper with a hint of red in its color. Very well constructed torpedo cap.

Feel: Little soft and loosely packed. Felt a little light in the hand for its size.
Pre-light draw: Lots of peppery tingle after my blade cut. Leather and pepper on the pre-light.
SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: The cigar immediately hit with nice strong black pepper than was made even stronger when the smoke was expelled through the nose. For the first few draws the pepper completely masked any other flavors. But it then quickly gave way to a nice balanced mix of sweet (caramel) leather and pepper. Very enjoyable flavors. I did not notice any other changes during the smoke.

Strength: Full in flavor but medium in strength (i.e., no feeling the stomach or head).
Feeling: Good resistance to chew and comfortable shape to hold in the mouth. Lots of spicy tingle from the wrapper .
Scent of smoke: This cigar produced tons of creamy white smoke that had a charcoal and wood (pine) odor with a bit of spiciness.

Heat: None, smoked very cool throughout.
Draw & Burn: Perfect draw. Slightly uneven burn that required 2-3 corrections.
Finish: Long and velvety finish with lots of peppery tingle on the lips and in mouth and a sweet light wood flavor.
OTHER:
Ash: Flaky, white ash that held well.

Duration: Smoked to final 1” in about 1.5 hrs.
CONCLUSION: An excellent cigar with a ton of peppery spice and some nice sweet leather flavors. Not particularly complex but very nice flavors throughout. From the strong pepper on the lips I would guess that the wrapper is Corojo…this cigar reminded me in some ways of the Padilla Achilles. Excellent torpedo construction and reasonably good burn. I would definitely recommend this cigar and will be buying some when I find out what it is!
FINAL RATING: 8.8/10
Cheers!

Pre Smoke:
Scent of Wrapper : Unusual sweet floral-ish scent.
Scent at Foot: More pronounced floral scent, maybe a hint of cocoa.
Appearance: Slight oily sheen. Very veiny.
Wrapper: Toothy wrapper, consistent medium brown in color
Feel: Firmly packed with light spring to the touch. No soft spots.
Tongue: Very sharp tingling sensation
Flavor on Draw: Mild tobacco flavor
Smoke:
Taste:
Initial: After initial harshness smoothed out to pleasant mild tobacco taste
1" in: Continued good tobacco taste body buildin towards medium
1/3 point: Good tobacco taste. No complaints.
2/3 point: Consistent throughout. An excellent smoke.
Flavor Changes: Taste was consistent throughout. Not terribly complex
but good tobacco flavor.
Strength: Mild to Medium
Scent of Smoke: Smoked in a room full of cigar fiends…hard to single out.
Heat (hot on fingers or mouth?): None
Draw Quality: Perfect
Finish: Short
Other comments: Erratic burn initially required frequent touch-up. Burn
improved at about 1" point and was good the rest of the way. Had a bit
of a sharpness I associate with a young cigar - I think this cigar would be
even better with a bit of age.. Overall a pleasant experience.

Pre-Smoke
Scent of Wrapper: Leather with a hint of nuttiness
Scent at Foot: I got the impression of nice aged leather
Wrapper: Milk chocolate brown with a reddish tint, almost a Rosado. Cameroon perhaps? Several medium-sized veins and pronounced ridges left by the cigar molding process. Slight sheen of oils.
Feel: Firm along the entire length
Tongue: Cardboard. Seriously. There was almost no taste to speak of.
Flavor on Draw: Grass and pepper flavors that left a tingle on the roof of the mouth.
Smoke
Taste: Pepper and toasted nuts with a slight hint of black licorice.
Flavor Changes: Took on more of a toasty flavor near the halfway point. The licorice disappeared and was replaced by a mild sweetness. Very enjoyable
Strength: Mild-medium
Scent of Smoke: Mild with a slight sweetness
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: Became hot and bitter around the three-quarters mark.
Draw: Fairly free
Finish: Long and peppery
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Some minor burn problems, but nothing too drastic. I also ended up wearing the brittle, flaky ash a couple of times.

PRE-SMOKE
Scent of WrapperNothing but tobacco, which was light at that.
Scent at FootPicked up a little stronger tobacco along with that good barnyard smell. I did pick up a very little bit of spice also.
AppearanceIt had a nice torpedo shape, with a good construction to it. there were no appearant flaws.
WrapperThis wrapper was a very light brown. It had a slight rough texture to it and contained many veins and very small stems.
FeelI did find a few soft spots. Near the head was solid as a rock. Overall it was tightly wrapped.
TongueI did not feel any tingle. I did pick up a very slight spicyness though.
Flavor on DrawI got a stronger taste of that "good" barnyard smell, along with some spice and toasty tobacco.
SMOKE
Flavors/TasteUpon lighting it up, I did pick up some nice mild toasty tobacco, and maybe some creamy butteryness also. About one inch into it I started to pick up some spice. Once I got to the 2-3 inch mark I picked up a strong licorice flavor which lasted a few puffs. After that it mellowed back down to the toastyness.
StrengthThis cigar went from medium to mild and back a few times. It was one of the good things I liked about it.
Scent of SmokeI picked up a hint of cocoa on the smoke which came from the cigar.
Heat on Fingers and in MouthNe ver became an issue until the last 2 inches.
DrawPERFECT!!!!
Burn/AshLight grey/black ash which held on well. No flakyness at all.
FinishIt was short lived and did not have much body at all.
Other Aspects of the CigarThis cigar had an overall good construction. The flavors were a little mild for my liking. It was not a bad cigar for a mild one though. I rate this one as a 6.5 on the ICRS scale and would like to know what I was really smoking threre!!

Cons:

Uneven burn

PRE-SMOKE
Scent of Wrapper: Somewhat aromatic.
Scent at Foot: Similar to wrapper, but more faint. Nice smell.
Appearance: Torpedo shape
Wrapper: Almost smooth, not toothy, small veins. Color - med. brown.
Feel: Consistent from head to foot. Fairly tightly wrapped. Very slightly spongy in the middle.
Tongue: No tingle. Mildly sweet taste.
Pre-light Flavor on Draw: Light flavor.
SMOKE
Lit up nicely. Decent draw. Noted a good Cameroon wrapper taste. I had an uneven burn, but I was smoking outside and it was windy.
I could use more smoke. Almost no smoke when resting. I really have to draw on it a lot to get a satisfying amount of smoke in my mouth.
Smoke is pleasant and smooth and not harsh at all. I can't describe it, but I like it.
Strength: The flavor is mild-medium.
Scent of the Smoke: Very pleasant. Smells like wood chips.
Heat on fingers and mouth: Nothing.
Draw: Draw a little tighter than I like, but really not that bad.
Finish: Nice and mild. Not over powering at all.
Other: I had to relight 3 times, but again, it was windy when I smoked it. The flavor was not overpowering. A nice smoke overall.
Overall, I would rate this cigar 7.0.
