Cons:

Pre-smoke
Scent of Wrapper: sweet, maple syrup w/honey
Scent at Foot: cherry & earthy tobacco
Appearance: 2/3 of the cigar is a medium brown color & very rustic, 1/3 of the cigar is
butterscotch colored and smooth
Wrapper: It appears that there are two very different wrappers on this one. 2/3 closest to the foot is rustic, toothy and filled with large veins. The other 1/3 near the head is relatively smooth and satiny. There is a small tear in the wrapper leaf near the head. This is probably the strangest looking wrapper set up that I have seen on a cigar.
Feel: firm except for a small section near the foot that has a soft spot and is somewhat spongy.
Tongue: mild, no tingle
Flavor on Draw: sweet onion
Smoke
Taste: light to medium tobacco taste
Flavor Changes: The flavor stayed mild to medium until about halfway. Then it picked up a notch and went to all medium. Very nice and smooth
Strength: mild to medium
Feeling: peace and relaxation
Scent of Smoke: aromatic and sweet, very pleasant
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: none at all
Draw: A nice draw with some resistance, the draw was just perfect for me
Finish: A short finish, with notes of mocha and sandalwood
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: The burn was straight and slow, it remained that way until the halfway point, I then had to relight it and it continued where it left off. A very smooth and remarkable smoke with a slight flavor profile change at about mid-way. I truly enjoyed smoking this cigar aside from its initial appearance.
Final Rating: I rate this 5 – Acceptable (the rating would have been better if it weren’t for how it appeared. Hey, but looks aren’t everything right?)

Blind Tasting Panel #125
Churchill, Natural
7” x48

ATMOSPHERE: Smoked on a warm morning on my patio paired with water and “Blades Glory” on my DVD player.
PRE-SMOKE:
Scent. Wood with a hint of sweetness from the wrapper. Just basic tobacco from the foot.
Appearance: Light brown, butterscotch colored, rough and rustic wrapper with lots of visible veins. Slight box press.

Feel: Pretty soft in a few places.
Pre-light draw: No tingle on the tongue after my punch cut. Just mild tobacco on the pre-light draw.
SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: The cigar had a light wood (pine) and dry toast base with hints of black pepper. It became much more creamy with retronasal olfaction. At about the 1/3 point I began to pick up some herbal spiciness (similar to what you get with a Cameroon). Very enjoyable flavors overall.

Strength: Mild.
Feeling: A little soft to chew but not too bad. Not much flavor from the wrapper itself .
Scent of smoke: This cigar produced lots of light grey smoke with a very mild, woody aroma.

Heat: None .
Draw & Burn: This cigar had a nice deliberate draw and a razor-sharp burn that did not require a single correction.

Finish: Short; woody with a peppery tingle occasionally.

OTHER:
Ash: Slightly, flaky white-grey ash with black ridges that held well.
Duration: This cigar burned quite fast, producing lots of smoke at rest. The smoking duration to nub it (1 hr 20min) was pretty short for a Churchill.

CONCLUSION: Although this cigar is a little more mild-bodied than I typically smoke I did enjoy its woody and spicy flavors. The construction/appearance looked a little rough but it burned and drew very well. I would recommend this to others for those occasions when you want a mild smoke. Given its fast burn I wouldn’t pay too much for it, however.
FINAL RATING: 7.3/10
Cheers!

Smoked this on a crisp night on my porch.
Pre-Smoke
Sent of Wrapper: I picked up some interesting scents here. I think that there was something sweet mixed in with the tobacco scent, but I cannot really put my finger on it well enough to describe.
Sent at Foot: Earthy spice sent at the foot. The sweetness from the wrapper is not evident here.
Wrapper: This was an inconstant wrapper in color, half dark half a a slightly lighter brown.
Feel: Again there was some inconstancy here. It was hard for an inch, and then soft for an inch.
Tongue:: Nothing noted.
Flavor on Draw: Grass flavor with some spice at the back of the throat.
Smoke
Taste: The initial flavors were medium spicy here. it was very nice, I would say medium towards the mild side of the spectrum. As I smoked, about every inch or so the spice or pepper would give way to a clean tobacco flavor and then the spice would pick back up again. Never really changing from that Medium to mild spice. Towards the head of this cigar things got a bit harsh and I stopped with about 2 inches left. Fairly nice flavors here.
Strength: Mild to Medium, but more mild in my book.
Sent of smoke: I was outside, and there was a breeze making this hard.
Heat on Fingers and in mouth: none noted.
Draw: Very nice open draw, no problems there.
Finish: Nice lingering spice for most of the cigar. I have to say that things did get harsh toward the end.
Other aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: This one was interesting, I smoked it really fast, about an hour but I was not trying to and was going at my normal pace, so I think this was something to do with the construction. I found the ash to be flaky and problematic outside as it would flake off and blow all over. As the wrapper burned you could tell that this was very loosely packed and I did have two burn issues that needed corrections. All in all a good cigar that I would recommend as long as the price was right.
Overall I would give this a 5.8/10. Most of the deductions are for the construction/ash issues that I had. I thought the flavors, while mild for my everyday smoke, were nice so that picked things up.

Pre-Smoke
Scent of Wrapper: Woody earth with a hint of sweetness
Scent at Foot: Slightly musty tobacco aroma
Wrapper: This is a rough looking cigar with a veiny, caramel-colored wrapper. The wrapper leaves used were different shades as the top half-inch of the cigar was lighter than the rest of the cigar.
Feel: Slight sponginess along the entire length
Tongue: Mild wood flavors
Flavor on Draw: The only thing I picked up on was a mild tobacco flavor
Smoke
Taste: I found that this cigar began with a mild toasty flavor with a slight grassy overtone.
Flavor Changes: The further I progressed with the cigar, I began to pick up some slightly nutty flavors
Strength: Mild progressing to slightly less mild.
Feeling: This was a comforting, relaxing smoke
Scent of Smoke: Mild tobacco aroma with a slight sweetness
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: n/a
Draw: Good draw with just a slight resistance
Finish: Medium length finish that had a slightly chemical note to it.
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Flaky light gray ash.
Final Rating: 4.7. While the initial flavors of this cigar were quite nice, the finish was not very appealing. Also, the cigar’s appearance detracted from its overall score.

Pros:
|
Very pleasant corojo-like flavor. Nice draw, lots of smoke.
|
|
Cons:
|
A little bit boring. Not a flavor powerhouse.
|
|
PRE-SMOKE
Scent of Wrapper: Slight sweet smell with a little bit of ammonia or urine smell.
Scent at Foot: Not aromatic.
Appearance: Churchill shape
Wrapper: Generally smooth, not much sheen, and some predominate blemishes/wrinkles in the wrapper. A few medium veins. The cap is crudely applied - this particular one is quite crude. There are a couple of places near the head that are crudely formed...looks like there might be a couple of stems in there.
Feel: Firm from head to foot, with a bit of a soft spot right near the foot.
Tongue: No tingle. No flavors observed.
Pre-light Flavor on Draw: Very slight black licorice flavor. No sweetness.
SMOKE
Lit alright. Draw is acceptable, but perhaps is starting off a bit on the tight side. First impression is the cigar is not producing any powerful flavors. Pretty blah for the first few puffs. Initial draw is alright, but a bit on the tight side. The cigar is starting off producing a really nice amount of smoke.
After a half inch, I'm picking up a very slight hint of some corojo-like flavor when I roll the smoke. All the flavors are very mild at the beginning. Cigar is reminding me of a Flor de Oliva corojo. The corojo is not particularly pronounced, and there is no corojo associated spice.
This cigar is easy to roll through the nose right from the start.
At about one inch, the cigar is developing more corojo-like flavor and picking up a tiny bit of corojo-spice. Cigar continues to produce a nice amount of smoke. Very little smoke while resting.
The flavor has a very slight sweetness to it. The flavor is mild-medium to medium with the distinct flavor of corojo, but very smooth and mild. So, I would describe it as a very mild and not very spicy corojo cigar.
Strength: The flavor is mild-medium to medium.
The feeling (or nicotine strength) is mild. No nicotine effects.
Scent of the Smoke: Woody, perhaps cedar and oak. Pleasant room note.
Heat on fingers and mouth: Nothing observed.
Draw: Draw improved after an inch or two. Started out a little tight but loosened up on its own after several minutes. Nearly perfect after a couple inches.
Finish: Fairly short, but pleasant.
Other: Burn line has been straight. No serious problems staying lit, although one relight was necessary. The "mascara line" is thin but well defined and consistent.
Ash is flaky, and has no real ability to hang on past a half inch.
Overall, I would rate this cigar 6.3 which is Good. The construction leaves a bit to be desired, but mostly the flaws were in the area of appearance. The cap on this cigar just looked messy. The rest of the construction seemed to be okay - the cigar is rolled nice and tight, and it has a good draw.
The flavors were a bit too muted to make this rate real high. I would prefer a little stronger corojo flavor and a little bit more corojo spice. This cigar had a very mild corojo flavor and very little associated spice. So, it comes across as being a little bit plain, but the flavors were pleasant enough. If these were value priced, I would probably smoke them again. A good everyday cigar, particularly for someone who doesn't like their cigars too strong.

Feel: was a little on the soft side
Tongue: n/a
Flavor on Draw: Slight woodiness and hint of sweetness
Smoke
Taste: Slightly grassy with a touch of woodiness but also a little sweet
Flavor Changes: Started our woody, a litle grassy then changed to a toast and stayed that way pretty much throughout
Strength: Really stayed at more of a mild cigar
Feeling: An enjoyable smoke but was not what I would call a great cigar

PRE-SMOKE
Scent of Wrapper: Next to nothing.
Scent at Foot: Not aromatic.
Appearance: Churchill shape
Wrapper: One large vien. Mostly smooth.
Feel: Firm, but it weighs next to nothing.
Tongue: No tingle. No flavors observed.
Pre-light Flavor on Draw: Nothing big.
SMOKE
Lots of smoke, perfect draw. The burn is nearly perfect.
Strength: The flavor is mild-medium to medium.
Scent of the Smoke: Smoky.
Heat on fingers and mouth: Nothing observed.
Draw: NO issues with the draw, from start to fnish.
No relights.
Ash is flaky, but mostly solid.
This is a wild cigar, great burn, draw and amount of smoke. But the flavor is not something that I like. It honestly tastes like smoke to me.
