Pros: well constructed, nice maduro flavors
Cons: a bit harsh at the end

This one I had on my porch last night. i had my wife pick the cigar I was going to smoke out of my humidor, and she ended up picking one of the blind review ones. She said she picked it because it looked dark and delicious.

Pre-Smoke

Sent of Wrapper: Spicy tobacco scents is what I noted at on the wrapper

Sent at Foot: Spicy hay scent here at foot.

Wrapper: The wrapper on this stick is dark black. Very oily wrapper here as well as some large veins running through this cigar. This one almost shimmered in the light.

Feel: very hard and firm throughout this cigar.

Tongue:: Nothing noted.

Flavor on Draw: Dry hay or grass flavor on this perfect draw.

Smoke

Taste: The first few puffs hit me with some peppery spice at the back of the throat. This gave way to a really nice creamy smoke with hints of buttery flavors and roasted nuts. The taste was constant throughout the cigar. When I got to the end of this smoke, I noted some harshness to the taste. While smoking this cigar I was thinking, boy this one tastes just like the Rocky Patel Edge Missile Maduro. This had that nice Maduro flavor profile you come to expect.

Strength: The flavors on this one were medium. But I did notice a bit of a nic kick. I could feel this smoke when I was done. It is no Triple Maduro, but it is not weak.

Sent of smoke: I was outside, and there was a breeze making this hard.

Heat on Fingers and in mouth: none noted.

Draw: Very nice draw. No burn issues.

Finish: A creamy mouth coating finish that lingers.

Other aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Very nice white ash for such a dark cigar. This ash hung on for a while as well. All in all a nice relaxing smoke.

Overall I would give this a 7.7/10. I enjoyed it and it was well made. I am confident that it is the Edge missile, but I have been wrong before. All in all a great smoke that I would recommend to all.

Pros: great burn, fully packed with tobacco, flavor
Cons: A few flaws in the wrapper

Pre-smoke

Scent of Wrapper: barnyard & musky

Scent at Foot: sweet like chewing tobacco (Levi Garret or Red Man)

Appearance

Wrapper: Deep dark chocolate in color, there is a slight tear at the head. There are a few small veins at the throughout the length of the cigar. A small fold of the wrapper leaf is at the midpoint.

Feel: Very hard, with a few extra hard spots. This thing is super packed full of tobacco. It appears to me that this one will have a difficult draw.

Tongue: A slight tongue tingle, sort of like a hop bite

Flavor on Draw: Very sweet, tastes like chewing tobacco (the cigar draws nicely with no plugs; very surprising)

Smoke

Taste: Initial taste of burnt almonds and a touch of black pepper. At the halfway point I get the taste of strong black coffee.

Flavor Changes

Strength: Strong full flavor at light, it mellows after about ¼” to less strong but still full flavors of burnt almonds and black coffee.

Feeling: Pleasurable, I think that I’m really going to like this cigar experience

Scent of Smoke: Very sweet, aromatic and floral like

Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: not at all

Draw: Slight resistance on the draw, absolutely perfect for me. I was really expecting this not to be so because of the pre-light experience. I thought that this cigar was plugged because of a few hard spots that I could feel through the wrapper.

Finish: long finish that lingers a while after each puff, I get a little of a metallic taste as well.

Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: A very smooth smoke, it had a firm black and pepper ash that hung on for 2” for me. This cigar smokes similar to another one that I enjoy a great deal. “Habanos Puros Fuerte”. Similar but not the same, it’s a very good cigar that I would add to my personal collection.

Final Rating: I rate this 7 – Very Good

Pros: excellent complex flavors; beautiful wrapper
Cons: loose pack and draw

Blind Tasting Panel #127
Torpedo
6” x 52

ATMOSPHERE: Smoked on my patio paired with iced tea and sports radio.

PRE-SMOKE:
Scent: Overall this cigar had a very nice aroma with cedar and paprika from the wrapper and rich earth and tobacco aromas from the foot.

Appearance: This cigar had a beautiful dark brown (almost black), roast coffee color. It was smooth and oily with a very fine vein structure. Excellent torpedo construction. Definitely a very visually appealing cigar!

Feel: A little soft to the squeeze and loosely packed.

Pre-light draw: A little peppery tingle on the tongue after my blade cut. Rich earth and a little spice on the pre-light. I was really excited to light this one!

SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: This cigar had a complex mix of flavors that kept alternating throughout the smoke. Initially it had the classic maduro trio of earth, bitter chocolate and coffee. Then it became more woody (cedar) and spicy (black pepper). This spice was enhanced when the smoke was expelled through the nose. The flavor profile was very enjoyable!

Strength: This cigar had full flavor with a medium body.

Feeling: The head of the cigar was a little soft for chewing…at about the half way point it became very spongy and mushy.

Scent of smoke: This cigar produced TONS of light grey smoke with a nice woody and sweet aroma.

Heat: None.

Draw & Burn: The draw was a little too loose for my preference but tolerable. The burn was slightly uneven and required a few minor corrections.

Finish: This cigar had a medium length finish with spice, bitter chocolate and woody flavors.

OTHER:
Ash: Salt and pepper ash that held well.

Duration: Smoked to about 1.5” left in 1.5 hrs. Had to set it down at that pint because the head was getting too mushy.

CONCLUSION: This cigar has fantastic complex maduro flavors that reminded me a lot of the Indian Tabac Super Fuerte maduro or Rocky Patel Edge maduro. I enjoyed them a lot. My only complaints were the loose draw and soft/loose packed torpedo head. But despite these flaws I still enjoyed it immensely and would recommend it to others.

FINAL RATING: 8.5/10

Cheers!

Pros: Good flavors
Cons: Not very visually appealing

Pre-Smoke

Scent of Wrapper: Earthy with some leather
Scent at Foot: Rich tobacco with a hint of molasses that reminded me a great deal of chewing tobacco
Wrapper: Finely veined, toothy, dark brown wrapper with several spots of discoloration.
Feel: Rock hard. My initial impression is that I’m going to have draw problems.
Tongue: Musty flavor that left a slight tingle on the tip of my tongue
Flavor on Draw: More chewing tobacco flavors

Smoke

Taste: My first impression is of coffee with just a hint of peppery spice.
Flavor Changes: Near the halfway point flavors of bitter chocolate begin to come through along with more spice notes that remind me a bit of fresh ginger.
Strength: Med-full
Feeling:
Scent of Smoke: My living room was filled with a dark, slightly sweet aroma
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: None
Draw: Despite my initial trepidations, the draw on this cigar was rather easy and produced tons of smoke
Finish: Long with a slightly flinty taste similar to the Fuente King B
Other Aspects of the Cigar Smoking Experience: Very solid ash

Final Rating: 7.4

Pros: Excellent construction, nice dark rich mellow flavors
Cons: Hard to find anything bad to say about this one

PRE-SMOKE
Scent of Wrapper: Not aromatic.
Scent at Foot: Not aromatic.

Appearance: Torpedo shape

Wrapper: Smooth, nearly black, oily wrapper with a nice sheen. Very small veins with a very nicely formed head.

Feel: Fairly firm from head to foot, no softspots noted.

Tongue: Slight tingle. No flavors observed.

Pre-light Flavor on Draw: Very slight black strap molasses flavor.

SMOKE

Lit up nicely. The draw is very good. The cigar is starting off producing a really nice amount of smoke. I am picking up a little spice when rolling the cigar. Initially, I am picking up some corojo like flavor, presumably coming from the binder/filler.

After a half inch, I'm picking up quite a bit of corojo-like flavor when I roll the smoke. All the flavors are very pleasant and mild. The flavors of this cigar remind me of a Gran Habano #5 Corojo. If I were blind folded, I would not guess from the flavor that the wrapper on this cigar is as dark as it is.

This cigar is easy to roll through the nose. Cigar continues to produce a nice amount of smoke. Very little smoke while resting. The flavor is medium with the distinct flavor of corojo, but very smooth and pleasant.

A couple of inches into the cigar, I started to pick up on some slightly sweet molasses type flavors, particularly noticeable on the finish, and some nicer rich dark maduro flavors while puffing. Very nice flavors!

Strength: The flavor is solidly medium.

The feeling (or nicotine strength) is mild. No nicotine effects.

Scent of the Smoke: Woody, perhaps cedar and oak. Pleasant room note.

Heat on fingers and mouth: Nothing observed.

Draw: Perfect.

Finish: Fairly long, but very mild and pleasant.

Other: Burn line has been fairly straight. No problems staying lit. The "mascara line" is very thin and not well defined.

Ash is compact and solid. Not flaky. Very good ash. Great ability to hang on.

Overall, I would rate this cigar 7.6 which is Very Good. The construction is very nice. It has a perfect draw. Nice quantity of smoke. The flavors were mellow and pleasant. Plenty to like about this cigar. My only complaint would be the desire for a little more emphasis of that dark, rich, sweet flavor. This cigar is a winner.

Pros: Burn, Draw, volume of smoke
Cons: Too mild for me

PRE-SMOKE
Scent of Wrapper: Very faint hay.
Scent at Foot: Again with the faint tobacco/hay smell.

Appearance: This is a torpedo cigar

Wrapper: Looks very dark and has few small, thin veins.

Feel: Soft spot towards the foot. The rest seems pretty firm.

Tongue: I am not picking up any flavors.

Pre-light Flavor on Draw: Mild sweet flavor.

SMOKE

This cigar lit easily. The draw is a little loose for my liking but barely. It is almost perfect.

I thought this cigar would have more flavor because of the dark appearance but it is actually mild. When I move the smoke through my sinuses I get a bit more flavor and a touch of spice but not much.

I like cigars that produce a lot of smoke and this one is perfect. The flavor is starting to pick up a little although I always wonder if that is just me getting used to the smoke and having it in my mouth for an inch or so.

I am liking the flavor now. Slightly sweet and I THINK a little bit of nuttiness although there is a flavor I can’t describe here.

Strength: I would say mild.

Scent of the Smoke: I like the smoke coming off of this one. It reminds me of another cigar that I just can’t place right now. I am thinking at this point, I may have smoked this cigar before.

Finish: The taste is hanging around for a good amount of time.

Burn: The burn has been very good for me. I haven’t had to retouch it at all. At one point the cigar started to burn uneven but I just turn the part that wasn’t burning to the bottom and as always it worked like a charm.

Overall I liked this cigar but it was just too mild. I like cigars that kick you in the face. I mostly smoke in the evenings after dinner and that may be why I am into the stronger cigars. This wasn’t one of them. I would smoke this cigar in the morning though. The flavors were nice, the burn was good. I did have a bit of harshness towards the end of the cigar but I was done with it at this point anyway.

I give it a 6.7
