Pros: nice toast and herbal spice flavors, flawless construction and burn
Cons: not very complex

ATMOSPHERE: Smoked on a warm afternoon on my patio paired with an iced latte and a good book.

PRE-SMOKE:
Scent: A slight sweet scent and some grass from the wrapper. Just basic tobacco from the foot.

Appearance: A light brown, almost green wrapper that reminded me of an not-quite-ripe Bosc pear in color. The wrapper was veiny with lots of large seams visible.

Feel: Good give to squeeze. Slightly loose packing visible from foot (see photo).

Pre-light draw: Nothing on the tongue after my punch cut. Just basic tobacco on the draw.

SMOKE:
Taste & Flavor: Started out as a fairly mild smoke with a predominately creamy, buttered toast flavor. After about the first inch it picked up a nice dry and raw herbal spiciness that reminded me of green peppercorn and endive. This spice was further intensified when the smoke was expelled through the nose. These flavors were very enjoyable and definitely make me think that the wrapper was Cameroon.

Strength: Starts out mild then builds to a medium bodied smoke.

Feeling: Good resistance to chew. Picked up a little bit of the vegetal/herbal spice on my lips from the wrapper.

Scent of smoke: This cigar produced an average amount of whitish-brown smoke with a toasty and grassy aroma.

Heat: None at all.

Draw & Burn: Perfect draw and burn. Did not require a single correction.

Finish: A creamy medium length finish that was a little bready and had some of the herbal spice.

OTHER:
Ash: White and black ash that held extremely well.

Duration: Smoked to final 1” in about 1.5 hrs.

CONCLUSION: This cigar had some very nice creamy toast and interesting green peppercorn/herbal spice flavors that I really enjoyed. The construction and burn were flawless. From the appearance of the wrapper and the unusual spice I definitely think that this was a Cameroon. And taking a completely wild guess I will say: Carlos Torano 1916.

FINAL RATING: 8.4/10

Cheers!

Rob
