Description: From http://www.canimaocigars.com/coronas.html

An habano with an excellent fragrance and a particular subtlety that is both powerful and well-balanced. Rich in aroma and flavor.

Pros:
Cons: Continual burn issues

I'll begin by saying that this cigar was WAY too mild for my tastes, and parts of the review will reflect that. Someone who enjoys a very mild smoke may offer a different opinion.

Canimao Corona
6.25 x 42
DR/Nic filler, Ecu binder, Ecu wrapper

Environment: 4pm sunny and mid 90's in the shade on my porch with a slight breeze to cool things off a bit.

Prelight:
Wrapper scent: earthy, cedar maybe a bit of straw
Scent @ foot: milder version of the wrapper
Appearance: Corona shape. Slightly curved, light brown in color with veins that are small but not as fine as most premium cigars I smoke. Wrapper is smooth with a little sheen. Construction is not bad - curved as mentioned above. The top third appears to be a little rougher than the foot.
Feel: moderately firm for most of the stick with a couple of softer spots just below the band and about an inch upfrom the foot.
Tongue: a little bitter, a little sweet
Flavor on draw: draw is fine - not too tight or too loose. not much taste though.

Smoke:
After clipping the cap with my Xikar and making sure the foot was uniformly lit, I took the first puff. Quite a bit of smoke. Earthy flavor (peat?). A little bit of some sort of spice - not pepper though, some cedar notes now and again. Loose flakey ash that dropped off before I got an inch in. Very mild cigar.

About an inch in now and having some burn issues that did not self correct. Still loose medium grey ash that is hanging on a little longer this time. Smoke is creamy, kind of an ivory color and adequate, but not what I would call billowy (is that even a word?). Still a very mild smoke and no change in the flavor. Ash fell off right about an inch this time.

Going into the second third - the latte I just finished was overpowering the cigar, and I switched to water. More burn issues as we move along. Nothing worse than having to fight with a cigar to keep it burning correctly. Medium grey very flakey ash. A little floral note presented itself very briefly - still mild body. The flavor would be good for herfing or a yard-gar, but the continuing burn issues prevent me from recommending it for either purpose.

Flavor changed a bit since I hit the half-way mark. Still mild, but the wood tones are more predominant now with a hint of sweetness. Ash is now a lighter grey with a brownish hue. About 2 inches this time before gravity won the battle and it fell off. Taking advantage of this time to (yet again) correct the burn and take the band off.

Last third - more smoke now and some bitterness on the back/sides of my tongue. The band is on there pretty good, and I had to peel it off very carefully to avoid damaging the wrapper. Next to no flavor at all now, although the slight bitterness remains. Not so much as to be distasteful, but a little annoying. Burn issues continue.

Close to the nub - the cigar went out as I took about a minute to make notes (not good). Got about a half inch after relighting before losing the ash. Noticibly warm to the touch and the smoke is hot, harsh, and bitter. Not enjoying this at all. I will let this one die without nubbing it. Very disappointing...

This cigar was very mild - and not anywhere close to a match for my flavor profile. I added a 0 rating to the Webmeister scale to add a "don't buy" rating. Although this stick doesn't fit in that category, it is close.

Webmeister scale:
0 - Would not contaminate my humi with these
X 1 - Not bad, but not memorable
2 - Maybe, but I'd like to try another stick
3 - Pretty darn good - I think I'll buy a fiver
4 - This is a keeper - gimme a box for bombing!
5 - A great stick - Buying a box to keep for myself!

Construction: 4 due to a slight curve in the stick and flakey, dark dirty grey ash
Burn: 1 forget it - requires constant attention
Flavor: 3 very mild and not much flavor

On the "official scale, I am going to give this a 3. There are a lot better smokes out there on which to spend your money.
