PRE-SMOKE
Scent of Wrapper: Not aromatic.
Scent at Foot: Not aromatic.
Appearance: Toro shape. 6 x 50.
Wrapper: Bumpy, veiny wrapper. Not very smooth, and not much sheen.
Feel: Consistent from head to foot. Fairly tightly wrapped. Seems to be well filled, and the construction is good.
Tongue: Some tingle. No particular flavor.
Pre-light Flavor on Draw: Very slight molasses flavor. Not much pre-light flavor there.
SMOKE
Lit up quickly. Somewhat tight draw. First few puffs are rather spicey and unpleasant. This mellowed out considerably after the first half inch.
After a few inches, the flavor in general is fairly mild-medium to medium with some light and dry wood tones like maybe oak and cedar plus some dark sweet tones, perhaps a bit nutty. The flavor is too meek and could use something to amp up the flavor a bit. The flavor it did have was pleasant and enjoyable, just not enough of it for my palate.
The burn has been even and consistent. The "mascara line" is very thin and almost invisible in places -- indicating to me that the wrapper is not very oily.
This particular stick seems to have a bit of a plug near the head - under the band. After helping it out with a bamboo skewer, it is making an acceptable (but still not abundant amount) of smoke. Produces no smoke when resting.
Smoke is pleasant and fairly smooth and does not exhibit any harshness. Creates a pleasant aromatic cedar and spice scent in the room.
Strength: The flavor is mild-medium at the most.
The feeling (or nicotine strength) is mild. No noticeable nicotine effects.
Scent of the Smoke: Very pleasant and aromatic, not heavy. Smells like cedar and spice. I think most people would say it smells good.
Heat on fingers and mouth: Nothing observed.
Draw: Draw was too tight due to a plug near the head. I was able to help it out with a bamboo skewer.
Finish: Very short and very mild finish. Too meek for my taste.
Other: Fairly consistent burn line. Flakey ash. Got 3/4 inch ash in my lap
Overall, I would rate this cigar 5. which is Acceptable. This stick only costs about $1.40 in bundle quantity, so I didn't expect too much. This maduro didn't strike me as being as good as the Fresco natural. I thought the flavor it had was pretty good for the price, but it was a bit dry and lacking in enough flavor to be rated higher than acceptable.
