Description: Miami, the addition to the highly acclaimed 5 Vegas label. A product of Nicaragua, this super-premium is hand-crafted in the now legendary El Rey de los Habanos factory, home of the industry’s most prized brands. 5 Vegas Miami employs a beautiful Cuban-seed Corojo wrapper grown in the rich, fertile soils of Nicaragua, which hugs a vintage mixture of Cuban-seed Nicaraguan long-leaf tobaccos. A charistmatic combination offering a bold array of flavors. The Miami opens with a spicy start, then mellows into smooth bouquet of earthy and leathery nuances. The final third is quite full-bodied, completing a savory and satisfying experience.

Pros: Hearty, great corojo flavor
Cons: None

PRE-SMOKE

Scent of Wrapper: Very slight brown sugar or mollasses aroma.

Scent at Foot: Same.

Appearance: Churchill shape. 7 x 48. Triple cap.

Wrapper: Fairly bumpy, very small veins, and a fairly nice sheen. Consistent coloring - medium brown color throughout.

Feel: Consistent from head to foot - fairly tightly wrapped, but with a little bit of give to it.

Tongue: Some tingle. No particular flavor, but noted a slight sweetness.

Pre-light Flavor on Draw: Very slight licorice flavor - perhaps a bit of wood, like cedar. But overall, not much pre-light flavor there.

SMOKE

Lit up fine. Perfect draw. First few puffs I noticed some definite corojo-like spicyness and some underlying wood tones. The first few draws were pleasant.

Well, right off I'll say it is not like any 5 Vegas I've ever had - it is very hearty. The cigar starts off with some pretty strong corojo spice. The flavors in general remind me of the Vibe or 601 Series Habano (RED) at the start - about that intense! But then settles down quickly to a more mellow smoke than the Vibe or 601 - similar, but definitely a notch lower on the flavor strength scale. Spice starts to settle down at about 3/4 inch smoked and evolves nicely into some very pleasant, rich earth and coffee type flavors (cubanesque). I pick up some wood and some definite sweet tones as well. This is better than I expected.

Draw is perfect. This cigar seems to be ready to smoke now. I am right at about 2 inches smoked now.

The burn has been even and consistent. The "mascara line" is well defined, but thin.

Volume of smoke is very satisfactory - leaning towards abundant. It is rich and smooth - nice hints of sweetness and does not exhibit any harshness - comes across as a very well behaved - almost refined. Creates a pleasant aromatic scent in the room.

Strength: The flavor is medium-full to full.

The feeling (or nicotine strength) is medium. I noticed mild nicotine effects. Not enough to bother a moderately experienced smoker at all.

Scent of the Smoke: Very pleasant and aromatic, not heavy. Smells like cedar and spice. I think most people would say it smells really good.

Heat on fingers and mouth: Nothing observed.

Draw: Draw was perfect.

Finish: Fairly long and lingering finish. Pleasant and rich finish.

Other: Consistent burn line - no runs or touchups. Ash is not flakey, but does not hold together too long - maybe an inch or so.

Overall, I would rate this cigar 8 which is EXCELLENT. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this smoke - frankly I expected it to be a poor imitation of a Don Pepin Garcia cigar. Instead, I was very pleased. I was also surprised by the sweet tones I kept getting throughout. I don't think I've noticed any sweetness in a corojo cigar before. They were definitely there in this stick. Very nice!
