Description: Another success from the collaboration of Ernesto Padilla and Pepin Garcia, the 1948 is a medium bodied cigar with a subtle bouquet of flavors.

Describing this cigar is practically impossible, because the quality and construction is flawless, which can only be properly appreciated upon close examination. The Padilla 1948 is produced in Nicaragua at Pepin Garcia’s factory, and although being new to the market, it’s highly coveted by many.

The 1948 is the second addition to the Padilla trilogy started by Ernesto in honor of his father, one of Cuba's most accomplished poets. 1948 marks the year his father published his first book. The filler consists of Cuban-seed Nicaraguan Criollo and Corojo tobaccos secured by a Criollo binder, immediately producing subtle notes of pepper and spice over a wood base. The blend is then completed with an incredible looking Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper, adding even more layers of spicy notes, without overwhelming the palate. The Padilla 1948 is full-flavored, yet medium-bodied and balanced. Coming from the hands of Don Pepin Garcia, in collaboration with Ernesto Padilla, this smoke is guaranteed to be a top seller for years to come, especially for the Corojo enthusiast.

Pros: Great construction and easy smoke
Cons: Nothing outstanding

Pre Smoke

Scent of Wrapper: Leathery and earthy
Scent at Foot: Similar
Wrapper: Nice Caramel Brown color with some small veins
Feel: Very firm
Tongue: Very slight tingle
Flavor on Draw: Still earthy but nothing is really standing out.

Smoke

Taste: Earthy. I picked up no real big flavors that stood out to me.
Strength: Med to full
Smoke: Good amount of smoke with an average aroma
Draw: Firm but good
Finish: Short and dry

Final Rating: 7.5

There was nothing that really stood out to me when smoking this cigar so I was little disappointed but I will have to revisit them to see if it was just a bad smoking night.
