The cigar: Taboo Twist Churchill 7x50 –Single
Time: Evening
Place: In my thinking place – the garage.
Drink: Beck’s premium Lager beer
Pre-Smoke Countdown
The Taboo Twist cigar is one you’ll definitely want to spend some time admiring before you smoke. I love the look of the twisted barber pole style wrapper. Heads will turn when they see you smoking this one!
Beyond having a striking appearance, and massive size, I found it had a great scent. A very sweet and buttery-rich scent fills your nose as you take in the wrapper. As I made my way down to the foot, the butter like scent became denser and stronger, and was joined by some chocolate. If the aroma is any indicator, I’m in for an excellent smoke. I clipped the head with my very ordinary black guillotine cutter (an easy straight cut with no separation of the wrapper) and popped the top on an ice cold Beck’s beer. The pre-lit foot of the cigar had a taste of licorice and felt very smooth.
Fire It Up
This cigar had a very consistent burn throughout. I did not have to re-direct the burn or re-light one side of the burn. The ash was a nice chalky white and stayed together quite well. The weight of the stick seemed a bit heavy which had me a little concerned about the draw; turns out this Taboo Twist has a really smooth and effortless draw. I would have to say that it is one of the better draws that I have experienced.
Taste It
The first flavor impression with this smoke is really surprising. It tasted much deeper and had more earthy wisps than I had expected. After a few puffs on this beauty the butter and sweet cream flavors started showing up. Imagine this, rich, creamy, earthy butter…that best describes the flavor of this cigar.
The strict creamy flavor lasted for about half of the smoke and then I started to notice a toffee-like infusion. As with most cigars in this category the final stretch of this smoke becomes a bit more leathery, with some spiciness but not overwhelming.
How Much
The Taboo Twist is priced very well for what you get. I paid $4.99 for a Churchill with a 50 ring gauge (I love this large gauge). It is just not common to find a cigar of such high quality and full of so many delicate flavors for that price. You can purchase these and many other Taboo cigars online at the following web site: www.taboocigars.com
Conclusion
This has become one of my new favorite smokes and for the price I don’t feel as guilty to include it in my weekly smoke set. The quality and flavors are very well-mannered and smoke like a high end cigar. The cigar was smooth from start to finish and had a plentiful supply of creamy flavors. The wrapper is nice to look at and makes for a great gift cigar as it is quite unique.
Score: 9/10
Buy It Again: Absolutely
Recommend It: To anyone seeking a creamy cigar at a great price.
