Pros:
|
Great draw and flavor.
|
|
Cons:
|
Veins on the cigar, little uneven burn
|
|
SCENT OF WRAPPER WAS VANILLA AND OAK, SCENT AT THE FOOT REMINDED ME OF BITTER STRONG COFFEE. THE CIGAR HAD SOME VEINS AND THE FEEL WAS A LITTLE HARD.. IT WAS SWEET AND LIGHT ON MY TOUNGE NOT TO STRONG.
SMOKE ON TASTE ON THE DRAW WAS VANILLA, CREAMY COFFEE AND NUTTY. STRENGTH I WOULD SAY IS A MEDIUM TO FULL, BUT THAT'S JUST ME. THE CIGAR MADE ME FEEL VERY RELAXED AND MELLOW AND I WOULD RECOMED THIS CIGAR.

Pros:
|
Consistent flavor
|
|
Cons:
|
Poor quality wrapper
|
|
Construction: Okay. The wrapper was veiny, slightly mottled, and had some perferations in it. The cap was adequate.
Wrapper taste/smell: black pepper and licorice/tobacco & straw
Prelit draw/taste: tight/pepper and licorice
Lit taste: This cigar was mild in flavor, but medium in strength. There was light licorice over an oaky flavor. As I worked down the stick, cocoa bean flavors began to develop. There was not much variation throughout the entire cigar. Overall, it was rather consistent from start to finish with little variation.
Burn: The wrapper burned ahead of the binder, which burned ahead of the filler. Although I never had to touch the cigar up due to runners, there was never an burn where one could flick the ash and not end with a pointy end.
This cigar is a nice cigar if one is sitting around with friends and talking and not really paying attention to attributes of the cigar itself. Overall, nothing would really make me say, "Wow! You have to try this!"
Finish: rather ashy with a touch of black pepper.

Pros:
|
Construction looks good aside from the large veins, nice barnyard smell, decent amount of smoke, good draw
|
|
Cons:
|
Ongoing burn issues, tongue bite, not a good match with my flavor profile, one-dimensional
|
|
Cigar: Blind #134
Environment: About 2:30pm, mid 60's with a bit of a breeze. Cigar has been stored at 70% rh for the past several days.
Prelight:
Appearance: Well shaped toro. Medium brown wrapper with what appears to be a water spot, a couple of larger veins running the length of the cigar. Uniform wrapper color and texture.
Feel: Fairly firm overall. There are a couple of spots where the wrapper is loose, but shouldn't be enough to affect the burn.
Wrapper scent: Barnyard
Scent @ foot: Barnyard, with a hint of sweetness
Prep: V-cut dead center, toasted the foot evenly. Off to a good start.
Tongue: no tingle, musty/earthy like peat
Flavor on draw: Barnyard and a little leather. Draw was a little tight.
Smoke:
First third - Earth/wood tones, faint spiciness for the first bit. Canoed right away on me. Set it down and had to manually correct with the lighter. A few draws later it happened again. This time, I let it sit for about 5 mins and a relight. Definitely got a hit of spice now, continued earth/wood tones, medium strength. Adequate amount of smoke, good draw, medium grey/black ash - not very solid, lots of crevasses. Ash dropped at 1/2" and the filler is burning faster than the wrapper leaving a big mascara line. Burn issues continue - this appears as if it is not going to resolve itself.
Second third - Still medium body/strength. Very one-dimensional smoke as the flavors/strength haven't changed much although the spice seems to come and go. Very short finish - a little sour on back sides of the tongue. Ash remains the same grey/black and not too solid, drops after 1/2-3/4". Burn line is still ragged, but not so much so that it required fixing. Just past the half-way point, the spice picked up as did the sour finish and a little bite on the tongue.
Final third - Ash is still good for about 1/2-3/4", the burn issues have returned. Still medium body, the finish is short and very dry. Woodiness is more of a cedar now, and the spice hasn't been around for a bit, but the bite is still there. Put it down with about 1.5" remaining and it was still cool to the touch.
Even though it is a medium-bodied stick, it is not a good match with my flavor profile - very one dimensional. The bite and burn issues were annoying. Overall, I would give this a rating of 6.3 - not feeling the need to nub.
Webmeister scale:
X 1 - Not bad, but not memorable
2 - Maybe, but I'd like to try another stick
3 - Pretty darn good - I think I'll buy a fiver
4 - This is a keeper - gimme a box for bombing!
5 - A great stick - Buying a box to keep for myself!
On the "official" scale, I am going to give this a 6.3 overall.
8 for construction
5 for draw, ash, and volume of smoke
6 for taste and complexity

Pros:
|
Very nice constructed cigar / Consistant on the draw
|
|
Cons:
|
Veiny cigar / Burn inconsistant
|
|
Prelight:
Appearance: Brownish / Slight small veins
Feel: Nicely firm role
Tongue: Roasted nuts with a slight tingle
Flavor on draw: Sweet Alfalfa taste
Prep: Straight Cut
Smoke:
First third - Consistent Grassy / Hay full taste to start with a light medium strength.
Second third - This cigar started to built some character turning into a full medium Grassy with some woodiness to it. Very nice on the firm even ash.
Final third - Cigar ended with a full medium flavor, great firm ash consistency with light draw and heavy smoke / taste remaind the same which was pleasant and not over powering.
Great cigar to enjoy on a cool night and again a good cup of Cuban coffee.
Overall, I would give this a rating of 6.0 and definitely wood recommend it.

Pros:
|
Initial light up flavor
|
|
Cons:
|
Draw, lack of zest flavor wise at the mid-way point
|
|
This cigar had a scent of field grass and of a fungal variety on the wrapper. The scent at the foot was hay or straw. The wrapper was a unifrom dark brown, veyr consistent with no blemishes or prominent "bumps" to speak of. It had a consistent feel with a little "give" to it, not too hard, not too soft. Upon placing my tongue on the newly cut end, I immediately noticed a heavy dose of pepper that really zinged me. The flavor on the draw was of a bready-cereal nature that was very pleasant. It reminded me a lot of the flavor of the draw on the AF Hemmingway shortstory.
Initial light up saw a smooth peppery sensation that hit the top of my tongue and became very dominant early on. The smoke was of a musky nature, with a slight note of sour mash whisky to it. The first middle third of the cigar saw a pronounced freshly cut hay and pepper aroma/sensation.
The draw was a bit tight on this one, requiring your cheeks to cave "in" on the draw, though not overly so. Definitely could've ben better in this regard. The cigar appeared to mellow out at the halfway mark and then didn't change from there all the way to the end. This was rather disappointing as the continued mellow flavor lead to a mundane smoking experience.

Scent at Foot: sweet grass
Wrapper: small vewins throughout, deep brown wrapper
Feel: firm, nicely rolled
Tongue: slight tingle
Flavor on Draw: sweet grass and hay
Smoke
Taste: has a wood and green almond taste that did not change thru the whole cigar, not very dimensional
Strength: solid medium but does have a heavier flavor
Feeling: disappointed not a lot to this cigar
Scent of smoke: bitter almond
Heat on Fingers and in mouth: slight
Draw: smooth draw
Finish: has a lingering green almond taste
Other aspects of the Cigar Smoking
Experience: I would not recommend this cigar at this time though with some age it may pull thru

Pre-Smoke
Scent of Wrapper: Typical tobacco smell
Scent at foot: Similar
Wrapper: Couple Large Veins - Double Cap
Feel: Fairly Firm - no inconsistencies
Tongue: Slight tingle
Flavor on Draw: a nice little tingle but no discernable flavors
Smoke
Taste: A sweet almost chocolately taste at the light
Strength: Medium
Feeling: Fairly no brain smoke
Smoke: Very "herbal" scent
Heat: none
Draw: Firm but not too tight
Finish: Somewhat long, coating the mouth
Other: Held a nice ash, no major burn issues
Overall: Nothing earth shattering - really reminded me of a Rocky Patel type of smoke. Second smoke was not as much "rocky" but very similar with a tigher draw.
