Pros: Well made, mild to medium, good flavour and great aroma
Cons: Not very complex i.e I was expecting a little bit more spice from the Sumatran wrapper

This is a dry/dutch type cigar from Holland made by the prestigious P.G.C Hajenius cigar shop.

I smoked this cigar in my garden on a still, cool evening(25/4/07)with a glass
of Batemanns Spring Breeze- a light and fruity red ale.

It was well constructed and good looking cigar with a nice colorado-claro wrapper. The wrapper was smooth and with only a few small veins. The pre light aroma was very mild and slightly woody, the pre light draw was easy but not loose and produced a nice mild, floral/woody flavour.

The charring light was easy and sent a soft, slightly spicy aroma. The first puff produced a good volume of nice white smoke and a smooth, toasty, slightly spicy/peppery taste on the palate. A good start.

1st 3rd
Still smooth and toasty with a light to medium body and a very light spice and leather notes on the palate. The burn rate at this point was good and even, the ash was fairly solid(for a short filler cigar)and light gray to white in colour.

2nd 3rd
Pretty much the same as before with less leather and a little more spice. The burn rate at this point was less even and I had to touch it up a couple of times.

Last 3rd
Still smooth and toasty with a little leather and spice. The body increased slightly towards the end, the burn rate evened out alot in the the final 3rd aswell.

Last puffs
I detected a slightly bitter taste on the last couple of puffs and the smoke a bit hotter too.
The cigar had a good finish that did not dry out the palate and went very well with the ale.

Overall
This was a well made and good looking cigar and a good representation of how good a dutch/dry cigar can look. It had a consistent mild and toasty flavour with hints of spice and leather throughout the cigar which I liked. It had an easy, but not loose draw which produced a good amount of smoke with a great aroma. Although a mild smoke it was pretty satisfying but I would of liked a little more spice considering the tobacco in the filler and the Sumatran wrapper. This dry cured stick would be perfect as a mid-morning or pre-dinner smoke.

Thanks,
Jake
