the padron X000 series of cigars are probably my favorite everyday smokes the maduro is the one i would pick up every time it never ceases to let me down with flavors and is one smooth smoke. it always starts with a little spice but after about a 1/4 in it just smooths out to alwost a chocolaty creamy smoke.

Brand: Padron
MSRP: $2.50
Size: 2000 Maduro
Box date : 2005
Drink Choice: Water
Time of smoke: Afternoon
Cut Choice: Xikar
Pre-Light thoughts: Construction leaves a lot to be desired. Oily wrapper,
strong tobacco taste.
The Light: Lit very well, lots of smoke. Started off with a perfect burn.
The Draw: Great draw, smooth and not to loose.
First third: Very good flavor, not overly complex but strong dark tobacco
flavor.
Second third: Picking up in heat and strength. Some cocoa flavors coming through. Very nice. Still a great burn.
Final third: Getting spicy, a bit hot. Still lots off strong tobacco flavor.
Final note: For the price, this is a great cigar. The wrapper was veiny and the cap was of poor quality, but for the money you get that great Padron taste. I suggest everyone try these at least once. These seem to be a staple of most humidors.
Overall: 79 / 100

Pros:

construction isn't pretty but still very solid, perfect burn, strong ash, value
|
|
Cons:
|
rough appearance, ugly cap, tough draw until i poked it a bit
|
|
prelight clipped with palio
tough draw so i poked around a bit with a needle and it loosened up nicely
prelight draw is standard tobacco with a nice sweetness
drinking ice water
first few puffs are harsh tobacco, let it sit a minute or 2 to calm down
first third: smoke calms down, harshness was probly due to scorched lighting, good tobacco flavor, quite strong with a lingering finish. first exhale through the nose burns a bit but as i keep smoking it mellows a bit
good straight burn with a nice ash, flavor is not as strong towards the end of the first third but definately very nice and creamy
second third: ash is still hanging on continuing with that creamy thick smoke, great for smoke rings, knocked off the ash at about 1/2 way point because i didn't want it to fall on me, smoke started getting a bit bitter so i purged the stick and it went back to creamy and smooth
end:spice is building, nearing the band the stick picked up a really sweet almost floral flavor for a few puffs then dissapeared, i had this same experience with the 3000 awhile back, quite pleasant, spice is still here and the smoke is becoming hot... gonna let this one go out
summary: great stick, not too complex but threw in a loop or two, main flavor was creamy tobacco with spice building near the end, only ashed this thing 2 times so construction is solid, overall a very good smoke, not giving it a 10 because of the ugliness and a few points of harshness throughout
thanks to cigar_joel for gifting me this stick!

I have not smoked many maduros until recently as my palate has developed and I now enjoy the heavier cigars. Here is my take on the Padron 2000 Maduro:
Very nice construction. I enjoy seeing a vein or two and this did not disappoint. The cigar had a nice dark chocolate color and was nice and firm. After clipping the head with my Xikar, it looked like it might have a tight draw but I was surprised that as I lighted it up, it had an almost perfect draw. Not tight and not too loose. The burn was almost perfect throughout with absolutely no need for touchups. The flavor was consistent from start to finish with a very slight sweet taste. The ash was about 1 inch long each time it fell off and was a nice light grey color. Every draw brought in a nice mouthful of smoke that I enjoyed for the hour it took to smoke it. Another cigar I nubbed.
Highly recommended.

Nice easy draw, nice tobacco flavor.
|
|
Cons:

Seemed loose. I was worried about the draw.

The feel of the cigar made me think the draw would be very loose. It is very soft to the touch and seems to not be packed tightly enough. It is strange because I have read other reviews saying the opposite.
I cut it with my Xikar and took a prelight draw. I liked the taste. I could tell this one would start off with a little spice.
I bought a whole box of these and did a 5er split with some others on the board. I am interested to see if they had the same experience as me with t he loose packing.
I light it up and the draw actually turned out fine. I was a little worried. There is a lot of smoke from this one and a mild spice. I am about 3/4 inch through on this robusto and the spice is mellowing out.
I am really enjoying the way this is burning and the aroma is very nice also.
The ash didnt last too long but I assume that is from the loose packing. It did break off cleanly though.
Overall I really liked this cigar. Although it didnt change in flavor much I really liked it.

Pre-light draw had a very mocha taste to it. It burned very nicely no touch ups needed. This provided an abundant amount of smoke to it.
Very tasty, I enjoyed the fuller flavor this cigar offered. I have smoked several different Padrons and for the price this is now one of my favorites.
This provided at different times, spiciness, chocolate, dark roast coffee but never left anything to be desired.
An excellent smoke especially for the price range.
